No issues with BF4. Was actually managing 50fps ultra 2XAA with 170% scaling while running 4436x1024 res.

S3 bug fixed again which is good.

One small anomaly.... during install CIM wants to set desktop to my monitor's maximum supported res of 2048x1536. I have a CRT and it should be 1600x1200....

I guess the installer was prob written with LCD screens in mind...could do without this feature....but not a biggie.

Wanna know what kind of person you are???
It's not the perfect comparison but still...

You are the guy who tells people who own this:

to get this and use it because its free (wow, so featureful, such usb port, such spacy design, much wow)

and on top of that, you say that you HOPE that CD record labels will bring out all new albums from now on only working with the funky
spaced up design thing and not with the reliable and established system.

i dont understand how much malevolence you have to WISH other people bad things...like their favorite 5 year old OS not to be able to have features ON PURPOSE... just to make a statement...
you must be a real embracing person in reality... :puke:

positive thing for you is... you will find a job in marketing with that attitude very easily

again i know that windows 10 is not as bad in comparison to w7 as this cheap hifi to the old seasoned hifi system. but why would you force other people to use win10 and even hope for punishment of companies who tell people to stick with windows 7 because its good enough if its good enough for them. are you the villain in the movie who likes to enforce stuff upon others?

you see most people just want a good solid system to listen to their music... they dont want to switch that every 2-3 years. they just care for their music (->programs) and many people who dont know much about computers get implied by ads and the media that the new windows 10 is soooo much better and they HAVE to upgrade or else they dont get support and their old system may not work anymore...
those poor people believe that... and thats why they make an effort of switching to a new os and then they have to handle new tiny problems and set things up... stuff they really didnt wanna do... but big MS and media on the web said its better... so they do it.

Yay!! FREEsync is teh shizzle... AND the best of all, completely FREE!

Just have to buy a new monitor and graphics card first tho ofc..

Just like the new technology Intel is working on: FreeHertz. Incase you have missed it, its a FREE increase of MHz for your computer. You only need to buy a new motherboard and new processor to get a decent MHz increase..

    Oh the irony.. :(

Not sure where you guys got the idea that freesync was free.

It free of licensing, hense the name, you still have to pay for the hardware

When we will get the driver that enable VSR for the rest of the graphic card (HD7000/R7/R9)? And please give straight answer don't avoid this answer

Personally, If I remember phese 2 of the drivers that was suppose to be release in Fabruary 2015 :p
We have late March and the new 15.3 Beta drivers, and there's no VSR option on my HD7870.

Well.. its PROMOTED as "free". In my book, when something is free, i dont pay squat for it.

A quick clip from AnandTech reveals:
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/9097/the-amd-freesync-review

Well, i get the idea that it is supposed to be free licensing, but if you have to buy a new monitor, that is slightly more expensive than a non-freesync one AND a new graphics adapter, the "free" kinda looks a bit meh :(

They could have called it "CheaperSync", and it would be a true statement if you compare to nVidia's G-Sync.

It's pretty confusing but I believe the first Omega driver was the phase 1 driver with phase 1 VSR support, now we have the phase 2 drivers with phase 1 FreeSync and if they can keep the current schedule then in April the phase 2 FreeSync drivers should be available for Crossfire compatibility, no idea when the phase 2 VSR drivers are planned or if something like that even exists although alternative solutions for older GPU models have been mentioned but it's also been mentioned more recently that "GCN 1.0" GPU's will not get VSR support at all so again a bit confusing. :)
(From the looks of it the next driver should be for FreeSync improvements with Crossfire and VSR is probably not going to be available for the GCN 1.0 GPU models although I am unsure about why that is, seems to be something about a hardware scaler in the GPU itself not being present but wouldn't a software method like Nvidia might have done with DSR work too even if it might not have the same performance?)

(Said hardware scaler is also why VSR has different limitations on GCN 1.1 GPU's and GCN 1.2 - which is currently only the R9 285 I think - with the 390/390X either being GCN 1.2 or maybe even 1.3, I don't think that's been confirmed yet as there's still not much info available about these upcoming GPU models in the 300 series.)

Hi all, been following here for quite a while.
I'd love to have some feedback from those playing Shadow of Mordor with Crossfire.
I have two 7950's working well in all other games.
All I seem to get in SoM with 14.12's and 15.3's is crashes, and the only way to get rid of them is to create a specific profile and run the game with Crossfire disabled. No crashes, but obviously lower performance.
System is kept under strict maintenance, I have no strange stuff running in the background, stock clocks and no funny tweaks.
I simply cannot get the game to run on two GPU's without getting a crash (game hard-locks and sometimes sends the whole system to hell) which seem completely random, as it can happen after 5 minutes or 1 hour.
I'm running with settings suggested by the game (there's an option that lets it choose the best for your system), which means no Ultra textures.

I've bumped in a few threads where people seem to be having similar problems.
I'm wondering if it's a driver issue or something the developer should look into.
Probably also worth mentioning that event log often ascribes the error to ShadowofMordor.exe, and more rarely to aticfx64.dll.

Would love to get an answer for this and maybe, why not, even see it fixed so I can enjoy the game the way it's meant to be played (pun intended ) with my two GPU's.

    cheers

    @vase

Your analogy is a little flawed, you're basing it on the old record player as being under warranty and getting replacement parts (drivers and OS updates) for free. Using your analogy, you would be perfectly fine with a subscription model, where you have to pay for Microsoft to continue providing basic support, as well at hardware companies providing drivers.

It would actually cost Microsoft money keeping Windows 7 afloat, and if they keep Windows 7 afloat they would have to keep Windows 8.1 afloat. You don't want to change, yet you (or at least people like you) expect them to backport DirectX 12, Spartan etc to Windows 7. That would be like the record player company providing you that USB port and AAC decoder for free.

So sure, records have a certain warmth too them. They are also fragile, shouldn't be exposed to excessive heat or cold, shouldn't be exposed to dust, and the player needs a new need occasionally. The other flawed part of your analogy is that you are saying Windows 10 is inferior, and slower. The slower part being analogous to the sound quality. Um no.

So you expect Microsoft to expend resources on each patch for Windows 7 (and subsequently 8.1) for how long? Another 5 years? What about hardware manufacturers with their drivers? You need the staff, man hours, and computers to write the patch and test the patch, all for Microsoft to support those few people stuck on Windows 7 despite 10 being free. You expect them to essentially PAY you, through continued service, to stick with Windows 7. You know, there are very few companies in the world stupid enough to do that.

What about AMD, NVIDIA, and other hardware manufactuers? Why do you expect them to hire staff to continue supporting Windows 7 (and therefore, 8.1), and pay for the computers and the testing time etc. Why should they be paying for YOU and those few others refusing change to WHQL drivers.

Windows 7 is patched up to the hilt, and even further when you include all the fixes supplied in hotfixes which you most likely haven't applied. That record player is held together with gaffer tape, will continue to get more wobbly (as more security holes are exposed), and is an electrical hazard due to the old wiring inside burning out. You see, if it was such a good quality record player to begin with, you wouldn't need all those Windows updates, as well as the myriad of hotfixes it seems you are unaware of ;).

The main point is the move to Windows 10 costs you nothing, and the continued support of Windows 7 (and 8.1) costs Microsoft money, and costs any hardware company stupid enough to continue supporting it money. Since these hardware companies are unlikely to hire more staff for supporting Windows 7 and 8.1, and they would have to if they were to do this, they are much more likely to take staff away from Windows 10 driver development to help support 'you lot'.

That means by your argument, you are saying:
Hardware companies, like AMD, should spend resources on continued Windows 7 and 8.1 mainstream driver development. They should spend money on testing and the WHQL process, and take these resources away from Windows 10 development (too bad for those taking up the free offer), because I say Windows 10 is inferior.

Further, this extra money that AMD, NVIDIA etc need to spend should be paid for by people buying new cards, afterall, that's where there support money comes from. Likewise those OEM's who still need to buy Windows 10 should pay for MY continued use of Windows 7.

I think those buying new hardware and software licences should feel a bit ripped off if they had to pay for continued support for people not taking up a free offer. The whole point of the upgrade being free is to streamline support and stop wasteful spending on supporting at least 3 times the OS's (7, 8.1, and 10 opposed to just 10).

Lol I dont expect them to BACKPORT.
I expect them to initially develop DX12 for Windows 7 and leave those pseudo OS releases like 8 and 10 until they actually got a break through in OS design which would JUSTIFY a new OS version.

8 and 10 were both as redundant as a sandbox in the Sahara desert.
And as you say... "streamlining support"... Why did they publish 8 and 10, if they could easily streamline support for 7 ! and just put those really MINOR features that 8 and 10 gives us into 7 via windows update packages...
Why call those small adjustments to visual appearance and niche changes a new version???

I mean look. The new advertised features: http://www.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/10-great-new-features-in-windows-10-1267365

    1) Another new Task View (the Windows 8 flippy thing has gone)

    -> https://www.raymond.cc/blog/windows-vista-flip-3d-alttab-task-switcher-in-windows-xp/ <--- FREEWARE

    2) startmenu from windows 8 got replaced with a more windows 7 like version

    -> http://www.classicshell.net/ <--- FREEWARE
And secondly... WHY not just implement more options to have core shell objects to be customizable out of the box? How can MS seriously use shell style changes to justify a new OS version? Making it fully customizable ... that would justify a new version of Windows, which would last longer than those short term versions which only appeal with visual changes ... and that is exactly MS fear...

    3) Snap Assist helps you snap windows
Oh really? Snap assist... now I also understand the big technological advance which justifies the leap from KERNEL 6.4 to kernel version 10.0 ahahah... (seriously?)
    -> http://www.nurgo-software.com/products/aquasnap <--- FREEWARE

    4) "The Command Prompt enters the 21st Century"
ahahahaahahahaha... i cant stop laughing about this one.
"We fixed a minor inconvenience/bug with the cmd.exe which exists since Windows 95"
translates into "The Command Prompt enters the 21st Century" -> Copy & Paste possible in command windows... LOL But I'll give them that, there is no freeware for this one...lel

    5) "Improvements to Windows Explorer"
"A new Home location is the new default view in Windows Explorer. There's also a Share button on the Windows Explorer taskbar (we really hope this is in the context menu, too)."
Hey cool the default view in the File Explorer has changed. So after installation instead of changing it from "My Computer" to "My Documents" I just change it from the "New Home Location" to "My Documents" AHAHAHA!!! Thank you Microsoft for a new home location, I was always waiting for that... Windows 7 felt incomplete without this new home location. I couldnt get my work done, neither could I play any good games or use my Bloodshed Dev-c++.
Next thing they tell you... Windows 11 comes out: "We changed the default home page of the Spartan browser to aol.com instead of bing.com"

    6) all the touch stuff...
i dont really comment on this. windows is mainly a desktop OS and touch is nice. but who has a touchscreen TFT attached to his workstation...hand up pls...

    7) Modern apps now float on the Desktop
please MS stop making a fuzz about floating apps...
this is a freeware customized Windows XP (!!!) desktop
    http://files.deskmodder.de/dsc/89_2_164_full.jpg
here a windows 7, also customized.
    http://files.deskmodder.de/dsc/87_1_148_full.jpg
everything is already possible if the user REALLY wants it.
But dont try to SELL IT to a user that doesnt really care about how a start menu looks or not. The people who do care can always make it look even BETTER than microsoft.
So please concentrate on making stable OS without all the fashionable stuff... and let users decide how they want their desktop to look like. Give them more CUSTOMIZING options builtin.
    http://www.maximumpc.com/files/u57670/samurize_desktop_2.jpg
see i can have a mac if i want to, doesnt matter if its xp or 7 or whatever.
    http://files.deskmodder.de/dsc/53_2_217_full.jpg
i dont need windows 10 to have floating apps, thats all i want to say.

    14.12 works fine.
