So this is the big Bethesda at E3 deal? Fallout 4 would have peaked my interest this on the other hand I couldn't be any less interes.... ...oh cat videos.
Just watched this... after which Youtube suggested "up next: Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" talk about a paradox! Cool video though, Doom 4 might well be what D3 ought have been based on that, even if short, clip.
Yeah... Keep dreaming. Cant wait to see all the Witcher3 type chatting this and every future game is also gonna get.
So is this idtech6? Can we expect Gigatextures and an install size of 200+ GB? Thus a 50+ GB day one patch and then concurrent 50-100+ GB patches thereafter?
Depends on what they have changed on how they use mega/virtual textures if they use them. If they have changed them to something like how farcry4 and battlefield series do for terrain, the size will not be as big. (spatting/generation of texture data during gameplay.)
Yeah. At this point we know next to nothing about idTech6. Carmack had stated he had clear plans in mind for what he wanted to focus on and accomplish with the next version of idTech. But, now that he's not there... it's hard to say where the engine actually went. I will say, it's kind of sad. The definite end of an era. The first id Software engine not coded by John Carmack.
Yeah, is a sad fact isnt it. Though, the lead dev on No mans sky is borderline becoming this generations John Carmack. If you havent read it already, theres a link in the thread for NMS about how he managed to get some crazy formations to work. Smart man, reminds me of john when i see him in interviews.
Here is what DOOM 4 looked like before the current reboot, for the curious. - DOOM 4 leaked Trailer Looks like a Call of Duty, Gears of War & RAGE mash up with demons, oh my!
From wiki, apparently ID6 is already in development since 2008 and Carmack was still very active back then.
