Lol, I want to share a lil experience. So I've had lots of CTDs in Eternal lately and I created a ticket in bethesda support with several crash dumps attached (ones created by game). I got a reply from them stating my gpu does not meet the minimum requirements to run the game... And this was from a "Karen" too
Have you tried disabling the GPU compute option ? I have found that can cause stability issues in both Doom Eternal and Doom.
Yeah made no difference. Also tried borderless vs fullscreen etc etc but random CTDs, again. Happens across gpu driver versions and I remember having these problems with previous rtx 2070 gpu too with some version of the game. Ever since latest update game has been real crash prone. But it's completely random.
I'm just hoping the karens at bethesda forward the dumps to id software so they can see if it's an actual bug or just some glitch happening with my particular hardware / software. There used to be a dude in doom discord who forwarded bug reports direct to ID. Sadly no longer possible.
Plot thickens: First I got a reply from Scott from Escalated Support. He asked for msinfo export but also claimed my driver was out of date, which it isn't (seriously AMD seems to be a complete mystery to them). A while later I got a reply from Tanaka saying my case will be escalated further. Now I'm talking with Thomas from Special Actions Team! P sure next is Mason from Black Ops, lols!
Well almost, instead of Mason I got Jason, lols. Seems the crashes might be due to a memory problem after all, I ran Windows memory diagnostic tool for 10 runs and it gave an error. I'll try dropping memory and IF clock slightly from 3600 / 1800 next. If that helps then I'll either stop there or try to stabilize the XMP clock somehow. I'm p sure it's the IF or memory controller failing actually. Or just run a lower clock but maybe tighten RAM timings slightly to compensate.
I have perfected my tyrant removal technique "Why is it always tyrant?" you might ask. Simple, it's the highest HP enemy in the game. Any combo that kills a tyrant fast will naturally work on other enemies with less steps required.
I will buy this game next week, Deluxe edition with the 2 DLC, looks fun! I should have buy it sooner.
This is the game where you will finally see the limits of a 3060ti where you wont be able to use ultra nightmare textures + raytracing as even at 1440p req. 10gb vram.
So I know I'm way late to the party here, but although I started playing this game some time ago, I am just now getting around to finishing it. I feel like I busted my ass the entire game to earn what was supposed to be this incredible Unmaykr weapon, and it totally sucks! Does anyone else think this thing was basically a waste of time? I mean the Slayer Gates were fun, but this thing is underwhelming. Not only does it only use BFG ammo (which renders it virtually useless), its not even all that powerful when used. It did absolute shat against a Marauder, and why would anyone in their right mind use that thing instead of the actual BFG with that ammo? The BFG is 10X more effective and you get so little ammo for it as it is. Bottom line - the Unmaykr? an overpriced POS.
Not with DLSS performance. I get 60fps at 4k, ultra nightmare. The game is bugged. If you cant get it smooth, even after restart, turn everything to low (you can leave rt on) and look at the ground until everything becomes smooth again, then turn it back to UN. Still smooth for hours, only until you change settings again.
Unmaykr being a joke is a thing, there are no scenarios where it's better than the BFG. Okay it will kill a single Tyrant faster but so will effective weapon combos (and without using BFG ammo) besides why would you use a super weapon on a single Tyrant anyway. So yeah just forget it exists. The Slayer Gates do give you 3 weapon points each and that definitely makes them worth doing unless you are playing ultra nightmare and don't want to risk it. Plus they have some of the best combat in the campaign.
really having a nice time replaying the game, some ppl complain about how eternal is more a platform game, but I do like the traversal puzzle part a lot tbh and there's a plenty of fast combat too. running 4K vsr/ultra nightmare/rt on, looks fantastic I found rt reflections too noisy and shimmering at 1440p-1800p, but 4K vsr they look amazing. Really surprised how well 6800 handles this.
@cucaulay malkin did you try commands Alex from DF mentioned about increasing rt reflections resolution?
that's not a reflection, that's a texture seen through glass. it's the same quality looking through glass or not using native+vsr, fsr blurs both lworse than using low textures in native mode. don't need no res modification running 4K vsr
How often do you look at the fire through the glass? Come on, fsr2.1 mod looks just like the dlss here i could barely notice any difference when i switched from 3070 that could not even run rt at 1440p due memory limitation.
Maybe I wasn't clear, through the glass or not through the glass, native looks the same, fsr makes textures look like crap. Same thing as Hogwarts, just worse. If you're not seeing fsr mod lower texture quality in doom, then get your eyesight checked. Seriously disappointed cause I saw that doom fsr mod was so hyped in the other thread, but turned out just like any other fsr2 implementation. Well, a lot better motion stability than other fsr2, that's actually true, but the textures, ugh..... would take high+dlss over ultra nightmare+fsr. The other day I tried rdr2 with fsr2, good grief, if only that could have the issues that dlss had. imo at this point it's better for amd fanbase just to forget mentioning fsr2 anywhere, unless you want people who used dlss in every game to be disappointed.
Dlss isnt perfect either too much blurriness and ghosting in some games, some are looking good. Im currently playing dead space remake and fsr2 looks decent in that one at 1440p uw. I needed to get that 60fps with rtao. As for doom its also decent for a mod i compared it to dlss in few days time and i was surprised and i can get 120fps with rt on.
