    Hi gurus,
I've been trying to find out if Rampage Formula supports CrossfireX.
AMD listed X38 chips as supporting CrossfireX. However they did not list X48 chips as supporting it. But... shouldn't the X48 chip be a better version of X38 (or whatever version... rampage formula runs ddr2...)

However, I'm guessing that Rampage Formula can at least run 2 x 4870. Though running quad gpu does look sexy. :3eyes:

X48 should support anything X38 supports, it's basically the same chipset.

I think pyo was referring to CrossfireX which is the use of two X2 cards in Crossfire (quad gpu setup). It's not all Crossfire cards that can handle it but X38 can. Reviwers have tried setups with two 3870 X2's (quad) or even 1 3870 X2 + 1 3870 standard (tri). Pretty hard-core.

yeah... i know x38 can handle say quad crossfire... i was wondering if x48 can also since on the official amd list of motherboards, the x48 wasn't listed. but then the list seemed really short and incomplete so i was wondering if anyone actually tried say two 3870 x2 on rampage formula :)

They probably just didn't update the list lately, X38 and X48 is almost the same chipset. But if you want to be absolutely sure it'll work on your next board why not get the Maximus or P5E? X38 won't be any slower than X48...
