I am looking to get one of those 1440p 34 inch 21:9 monitors for gaming (shooters/open-world RPGs, etc.). I generally get Nvidia cards and will most probably get a high end Pascal when it comes out. I am not going to plunk a few extra 100 dollars on GSync. Does it make sense for me to get a FreeSync monitor for the 144Hz? Or will it make no difference andI should just get a 60Hz model?

Well you'll still get the 144Hz (and any profits thereof), but you won't be able to use Freesync as things are at the moment. So if you plan to stick to Nvidia, you should look into buying a 144Hz monitor without Freesync, at least that's how I see it for your situation.

If it's a good price go for it. You won't benefit from FreeSync with NVIDIA but it won't make the monitor any worse. Don't pay extra for it.
