Do you think suicide is coward's way out?

The people who say suicide is coward's way out are not able to feel sympathy, and humiliate those who killed themselves to feel better.

It's not right to make fun of physically/mentally challenged/disabled people, why would you make fun of depression? Also, it takes balls to kill oneself. -- yes, I know keep living everyday despite challenges might take balls more than quitting.

And, to those who make fun out of the ones who killed themselves: Imagine if someone you really like get hit by a truck and die, would you like if somebody made fun of it? "ROFL what a noob look at the legs, all crushed, idiot!"

 

I think in a way it is a cowards way out of what problems you have, but I also try to help prevent some one from doing it if I see it happening where im at.I've thought of suicide my self many times, but I have a good friend that was able to keep me from following though.

 

Suicide is a silly thing to do... What if after you die existence is even worse? I mean just think about it. Live as long as you can and try to make it positive, because it could be even worse afterwards.

 

I guess it all depends on the circumstances. For some, it's a cowards way out. For others, it might be the ultimate brave act. Nobody can truly understand what that person feels, but suicide is like any other thing in life. Sometimes it's legit, sometimes it isn't.

I will say that I think it's wrong for people on an internet forum such as this, to mock or joke when someone brings the subject up. A couple years ago we had a poster who I really liked. He began talking about suicide, and almost every reply he got was making fun of him. I went the other way, and tried like hell to talk him out of it. It sickened me that people were encouraging him to do it.

I'm not sure he ever did, but I do know he's never posted after the discussion. Bottom line, everyone has a different breaking point. Don't judge, and always sympathize.

I also think suicide is the cowards way out the torment family members go through after one commits suicide is unbearable. Many time the family feels that it is their fualt. I also suffer from sever depression and I have many times thought about suicide but my family is what keeps me going. Who knows what we experiance upon death if heaven and hell are real or if you enter the next dimension or if there is nothing at all. If there is a heaven or hell when one commits suicide they suposedly got to hell. I think you have to find something in life to hold on to and make it the reason you keep going only you know what makes you happy.

 

Suicide is never the answer.
Anyone who commits suicide should be publicly dishonored in every way possible.
Suicide is pure ignorance. At least in my views, based on my beliefs.

I don't believe in an afterlife, once you're dead, that's it, your consciousness ceases to exist. And nothing justifies ending that. No amount of pain and suffering.
There is nothing that could possible happen to me, where i'd rather be dead.
I intend to live forever, so far, so good.

Anyone who commits suicide, didn't consider all the other options, there are always other options.

Everyone who has ever committed suicide, is an idiot.

PS when i was a teen, i considered suicide myself, looking back on that, i think of what a fool i was for even considering it.
Also, this is a heated topic for me. Feel free to throw a PM my way if you want to really get into it. Or even challenge my reasoning for rejecting the afterlife theories.

 

I didn't want to derail this with an argument, but those are my feelings exactly. Add on that many suicides are meant to look accidental....perhaps so kids get survivors benefits they wouldn't normally get. Perhaps to spare families agony instead of causing long drawn out battles.
I'll just say again; depends on the circumstances.

 

The people, like you do, who consider suicidal people idiots etc, upset me, a lot.

 

Isnt that pretty much the purpose of suicide? To cease to exist? So the suffering would end? I mean, if a guy wanted to keep thinking and existing, with all things that it means, he wouldnt commit suicide, but if he cant bears living anymore, then there is your justification.

It is pretty much shooting a bird with a tank, to end suffering by ending consciousness altogether, but, for some ppl their suffering may seem so big that ending their existence is a fair deal.

And trying to convince ppl to not commit suicide by calling them idiots, or telling them its the "cowards way out" its like trying to alleviate back pain by hammering your hand.

 

Well what if that person is a super nihilst like Curt Cobain, I think that a free society should except suicide a choice. We have no right to impose our world views on people. But then their are situations were a person a making a immature decision and don't really think it through. These people should be helped so they know what they are doing.

 

Easy for you to say that while looking in from the outside. Who knows what could be going through the mind of somebody about to kill themselves, and I don't mean just thinking about doing it.

Suicide is a way of thinning out the gene pool of those who couldn't hack it. We wouldn't want these people breeding too much and creating a race of wasters and quitters.

For some it's viable way off this mortal coil.

 

I don't believe in god or afterlifes so suicide in general is not something I can condone. That said I will not judge anyone who is in pain or sick etc, who contemplates or commits suicide.

What about our soldiers who are subjected to seeing sights like women kicking your friends decapitated head around like a football and there's nothing they could do about it, or children with their limbs ripped off and hung in the street and when they get home they cannot switch off from it and it drives them crazy?

It alright judging my friend from the relative comfort of your keyboard, but life isn't all forums and BF3 for some.

 

I don't really know it all depends on circumstances some might be cowardly. but most of all what i hate about suicides is that you hurt so many other people doing so and make deep wounds in their hearts. bit self-centered at times but well what do i know, just my view.

i thought about killing myself after my relationship ended what stopped me was my family when i thought about them what grief i would cause them.

tho i do know few people who are suicidal but can't do crap about it, go into psychosis and then just might cut their arms open, jump under a train, take od or something like that.

 

I see some of you have led relatively easy lives. You can count yourselves lucky that you don't understand.
