Do Li-Ion batteries have a reduced life if you recharge too many times?

Well I know with regular rechargeables, they eventually die after a few charges. So im wondering if the same thing can happen with Li-Ion batteries if you charge them a lot or when they still have a charge left in them.

Im mainly asking this because i just recieved my MX1000.

Everything eventually loses it's charge, so I'll go with a yes on that.

    Yes...
Lithium ion batteries usually have a max recharge upto 300 charges... (give or take of course).... it also depends on capacity....

Thats why they say u should let the battery drain before u recharge it....
Cause u get more juice out of it!

It's called cycling. You don't have to do it every time you charge but once a month will do.

Ya but what i meant was.... if u let ur battery drain...
u will have more time to use the excess power... thus the intervals inwhich u charge ur phones will become longer... which in turn will provide a longer battery life... since u charge it every so often...
    its hard to explain :p

Ahem ahem *steps up to plate*

Lithium-Ion batteries typically have a life cycle of 300 - 500 charges. Unlike with NiCad batteries, Lithium-ion does not have any memory loss, so you don't need to deplete it and give it a full charge, ever.

So I hope that answered your question. :p Read up on batteries for awhile for my j-o-b.

Exactly... Saeid, I think you're thinking on Nickel Cadmium batteries...

mmm, not exactly true. while lithium ion batts have a limited number of recharges, they only count as 1 charge when the batt is depleted and fully recharges again. what you said about letting the batt drain, then recharge, is a very common misconception. partial recharges do not count as 1 charge. so it would make the battery last longer to always let the lithium ion batt recharge whenever not in use, no matter if it's drained or not. letting the batt drain everytime, then recharge it, and repeat, is the fastest way to kill a lithium ion batt. look at all those ipod owners with 1 hour battery life left. i don't know how this misconception of letting it drain then recharge got about, but it's not true. charge it whenever you can.

    O_O

Soooooo confused now lol. I did look around a bit using google, and it seems like i should recharge when possible... Still very confused though.

There dying from the first day there made theoretically & only last a limited time before they lose charge more rapidly...
