Not had my Rig too long. Had been playing my old games/Sims on single card. They all ran noo problems. I bought some newer games Crysis/Warhead/COD4 to run them utelising SLI. NVidea Control panel settings. with nHancer game profiles It appears I can run for so long and then I get crashes. No matter what settings or resolutions of game. and am getting the nvlddmkm. display driver not responding message I have set up riva tuner and core temps and all temps are fine. I am getting these messages even when running at 1240x1080.on "High" settings Oh and framerates are no problem. Just crashes when it feels. Some artifacts first then BSOD. Looking like a faulty card to me. Any second opinions? Video drivers are latest 186.18s(BTW. I,ve tried them all from 181.xx. up)
i`d get driver sweeper, boot into safemode and remove all ur nvidia drivers etc, then boot back up as normal and install the latest drivers again, see how you get on with that
Hi Li4m79. Did just that. Booted in safe did driver sweep Rebooted and installed 186.18s Ran Crysis at 1920x1080 with most settings medium although shadows and shaders high. Game crashed after 2mins. fps = 80. GPU.0 66degrees with fan at 100% GPU.1 47degrees " " " 40%??? CPU temps CPU is O/C to 3.6 47/45/48/47
Well that would probably be the case if he's getting the nvlddmkm.sys blue screen and not something related to his CPU. I can personally say I haven't experienced any of this with my GTX285. And you say you've tried games that utilize. What I would recommend to do to make sure it's not one of your cards dying is try each card separately in the games you continuously crash in. This way if you find yourself crashing with one of them you'll know one is faulty. Now if you go through that and nothing is wrong with either card then I would try a clean format to make sure nothing went wrong there. Other than that all I think of is that it might be something wrong with SLi.
Haven't done that yet. Will try soon. And/or am running Crysis in OGL settings only (To get rid of the load balancing bar?) Actually it was just the same with it. on DX
Test your GPUs, try swapping them out, and try them on another motherboard/PC. You could also try an ATITool artifact scan, wouldn't take it as scripture, though. Test your RAM, run memtest86, swap them out etc. Test your CPU, Intel Burn Test. Also, how are your HDD temps? (Not likely, with that CM HAF) And what was the BSOD error message? These are just trouble shooting, I would say one of your cards could be dying if you are getting artifacts.
I had very same problem with old GTX280's in TRI SLI configuration. Only Solution to my problem was RMA which put me onto 3 GTX 285's which run damn good. I would first Test each GPU on its own for 1 HR game session. see which 1 artifact and crashes. Btw are your GTX285's the overclocked Edition?
GTX285s are clocked stock with heatpipes in additional cooling. Was going to try a switcheroo of cards and noticed that the connecting ASUS ribbon cable had what appeared to be a hard thumnail crease in it. Could this be the cause of my woes? MMmm. Call to PC. builder As said before running single card profile in my favourite flight Sim. runs great results without a hitch it is only when I try to utelise SLI. I have run into problems.
just do a awap to be certain, using just one card at a time.... that way at least you`ll be sure if you have a faulty card or no
Will do. In the morning. (Am not humphin' that case out again for now.) I know it isn't the top card.
:uhoh: Both cards seem to be working OK. Removed each in turn and played Crysis on medium settings . Not a hint of a fault from either. New ribbon SLI cable on the way. See if that makes any difference?
sounds like the drivers here but could be cpu as stated earlier so try intel burn test and u could try and update visual c++ 2005, 2005 sp1, 2008, 2008 sp1 .. these stopped me getting frequent nvlmdmkm errors
I'm still putting my money on something to do with SLi. Keep us updated and tell us how it works out when you get the new SLi ribbon.
I had same problem. Issue was, i had second card in wrong slot. There are 2 and 2 specific PCI slots for SLi (in my case 2 black slots, 2 blue slots). When i had 1 card in blue and 1 in black, it would crash. Check the MB manual to make sure you using correct slots.
The ASUS SLI ribbon, is the only thing that is showing an anomally. I only O/C the CPU originally to see if that was my problem in running these (New to me games.) The CPU is Stable with Intel burn test. As mentioned I have tried all drivers and utelised driver sweeper. I have more recently installed a Game booster program to shut down unrequired programs running when "In Game" Tested GPUs individually. Both appear to run OK when fitted to motherboards primary GPU slot.(Both cards are in recommended slots) Soo....... Keep yous posted.
