I will asking for him to talk at this thread, he might has the backup as I told him to do a registry backup first.

Hey guys. I'll post the registry thing right quick. Uploading.

It might be worth mentioning, this could be a bug on Oculus' side. It's just in prototype phase after all, and other people are reporting the problem.

Check this out, my post about the issue on their forum:

    https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=11955&p=160361#p160361

UPDATE: it's a 340MB file, this could take a while.

You should have zipped it :) it would have probably reduce the file by 50%

Im not sure I want to remove the filter from there. as its would cause problem with the oculus rift. And would need a reinstall(of the oculus driver) after each DDU run.
Ill try to think of something for this or check if there is a lowerfilter that shouldn't be there.

EDIT: this registry file is from when? before you try uninstalling the drivers or after you fixed them?

As I see only the UpperFilter and from oculus it seems its normal.I dont see any lowerfilter for that class in this .reg

Yup, based on the issues, it is only has UpperFilter, and somehow the driver can't load because of this, and showing a code 19, which means it is the filter issues too.

Maybe DDU should asking for uninstall/reinstall of oculus rift before cleanup?
It sound like the oculus rift driver/software somehow broken after the graphic card cleanup/uninstalled.

Im not sure that is the case, the user posts on the oculus forum is clear that there was a LowerFilter.
We would need to hear from him more about this and maybe have him do some testing on how does this change from a upperfilter to a lower.

Basically, we need to know how this "LowerFilter" was created.

A test would be to run DDU again on the working system and see if it "change itself" into a lowerfilter.
If that the case i'll put a detection for the rift.

Hmm, maybe asking for oculus installer from them will be better?
The installer may still install the filter even you don't has oculus.

Or just checking the user that having oculus will be a good choose too, of cause the working one, not the broken one.

If I understand correctly, the lower filter was already removed in the registry backup you posted?
If you can eventually reproduce the problem tell me if. Using DDU create this lower filter.

There never was a LowerFilter, as far as I know.

Not really. I changed the message right now in the code as just BUG sounded lazy from me.
But the logs of DDU should be much detailed.

Can you provide me the DDU logs so I can look at what went wrong as it smells like there is a bug on the "S-1-5-xx region cleanUP"
    Regards,
    Wag

just had a stuck on boot, and then after a forced restart, my PC hangs when it was loading the startup apps.

btw why is the resolution set at its lowest ?

i think on previous DDU version, the resolution stays on my normal resolution.

i asked this, because lower resolution messed up some of my startup apps windows size and view, ex : process explorer.

and i was on 14.4, and uninstalling it to try 14.7 RC3 with the DLL fix from Merolac.

thats not a function of DDU

    Its a windows registry setting.

well... i'm asking because obviously previous DDU can make the resolution to stay as it is.

I did not change anything for this. Its a windows and also a UFI thing.

On my system if I disable EFI in the bios, the resolution is not kept.
With EFI it stay at 1920x1080.

for the stuck on boot, check if you can reproduce as I don't have other report for this. If you did your windows update and did not reboot, it could be that too.
