FYI: DDU v17.0.8.2 did not wipe my AMD custom Performance hotkeys and I think I know why. DDU is supposed to be run in safe mode. The registry settings are stored in current user profile. In my case, since my computers belong to AD domain, safe mode user profile isn't same as normal current user. For me the solution to this problem seems to start safe mode with Network so the %userprofile% is username.mydomain rather than local to my PC username.

Thanks for the information, I'll try to see if I can do something about this so even AD user could use DDU in pure Safe Mode.

I wouldn't do that. I'd make a note in UI about starting safe mode with network and that's it. Well, maybe an additional option to clear (registry) customization without uninstalling drivers that one could safely run in normal Windows boot - for people with multiple profiles on single family PC for example.

Yep finally posted a guide, thanks for GhostMotley who made it.
I release my new version earlier on 'patreon' for those who pledge 5$ (no one yet) and this can allow me time to fix some last issues.
After a few day, I release to public.
The code is still compilable before anyway from github so technically everyone always have access.

Windows Defender seems to block V17.0.8.3, had to manually exclude the folder and exe to get it working
says its "Potentially Unwanted Software" lol

(Defender is up to date)(got win10 ltsb)

That's weird, mate. Windows Defender doesn't detect any threats for DDU v17.0.8.3 on my system, Windows 10 1709 FCU build 16299.248 o_O

That would be weird if you also had Defender configured for PUS (PUP / PUA). By default these are off. But then again, defender with PUS on will probably scream on anything executable and unsigned with Zone ID "Internet".

You're probably right, I hadn't thought about that. But then, it's not really a problem with DDU, is it? ;)

I don't know. Microsoft has (had?) a library for PUS. There might be a problem with how valid this list is: time / effort to evaluate every program / version and... customer submissions - I think these will be flagged by default until Microsoft will eventually get to analyze them. So, on one hand, I feel time spent on trying to find out if there something wrong with DDU would better be spent on its improving, on the other... better be safe.

I have already sent the file (an older version) to Microsoft in the past and it came out clean.
I always test the file via 'virustotal' before releasing and as long as not half of them say there is a problem (17.0.8.3 result is 0 ) , then you should be safe.
