Should be safe now. I just updated it a few minutes ago btw.

Also, to be on the safe side, have a system restore point or a backup near.

I installed 16.5.3 drivers using v16 Beta for cleaning previous drivers and everything worked fine. Only difference I noticed was that at first (after I hit ”Clean and restart”) it hanged about 10-15 seconds before it started the cleaning process.

Yeah kinda seems related with the tool-tip showing at the same time we click.
Its not happening every time. We will try to fix this before release.

Since you have a more recent card than I have for my test, would you mind emailing me the logs of the v16 cleanup so I can check for errors (if any...)

    Thanks

Thanks, I was able to fix a little error that I spotted in your log.
Nothing really important. no need to cleanup again.
I have updated the v16 with a fix for it.

I've been prepping an old laptop to be for Windows 10, and I ran into issues with AMD Catalyst drivers. I tried DDU, and the first time ir worked very well, but afterward not so much. Updating between drivers I encountered Catalyst CLI stopped working, failed to install the uninstaller, failed to install the display driver, etc. I went through the entire DDU process after every error message, and all I got were new errors during installation or removal.

I'm not blaming or complaining about DDU, but I did find various registry keys remained, and they seem to be the cause of my particular situtation. Since I'm using a brand new SSD it's quicker to simply re-install than to take ownership and assign permission for all the subcontainers/subkeys. I still find DDU very useful at removing a lot of the obvious, and I'm not going to bash it since it's most likely that I'm doing something wrong. I just wanted to point out that version 15.7.5.5 actual hardware related registry keys, even after multiple attempts.

Send me the logs so I can check them out.
Also if you are playing with the registry permission like you seem to do, I'm not surprised you have problems.

You can also give v16 a shot. I prefer to have v16 logs.

Ok... I am willing to send you the logs, but I honestly don't know how because I'm normally a lurker/leecher/NCP, so yeah, no clue.

I've been manually editing the Windows registry for years now. I'm not into things like AD, GP, and just brute force my way through the OS. It all started with a power outage and USB Unknown Device, and editing the registry to reconnect my printer. I've never crashed an OS, but I've managed to create a few endless loops in the command line or an IDE. lol

Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) V16.0.0.1 Released.

    ChangeLog:
-Now using WPF instead of WinForm.(1 big advantage: its DPI friendly)
-New log style. (Check it out)
-Added the ability to DDU to change folders permission that were failing to be removed before.
-Now using SetupAPI instead of DEVCON for device removal.
-Ability to alter folder and registry permission for removal. (Only for an item to be removed )
-Fixed Physx was always getting removed in some part of the code.
-Enhancement to the automatic language selection on first launch.
-Improved overall quality of the code.
-And a lot of other not really worth to mention little changes here and there.
    -Nvidia and AMD addition cleanUP
--V16.0.0.1 Fixed a crash if "%user%\Public\pictures\nvidia corporation" does not exist.

Important note: Most of these changes wouldn't have been possible without the help of a fantastic coder: "devmltk"

So does anybody know of a way to prevent losing all your game profiles from the gaming tab (in radeon's crimson) whenever you uninstall and run DDU?
