Disney and Epic Games Unveil Collaborative Project: New Gaming Universe Integrating Disney IPs into Fortnite

So I guess Disney won't buy EA or they would have done that already. I guess Iger's not too stupid to invest another huge lump of money into an endavour that's... questionable.
I'm just surprised that they are buying shares now for 1.5 bln, since they would have to earn that in the long run, and honestly, Disney's long run doesn't look good to me.

This is the same person who tried to sell Reaganomics to a bunch of 10 year olds by framing a greed disagreement with Apple as a 1984 moment, then making a banana skin to capitalize on the moment. Tim doesn't care about that as long as the dollar signs are plentiful

 

I suspect right now Iger's too worried that Musk will make a takover bid for Disney to think about anything else.

Maybe because of Bob's bonus, but other than that he really doesn't have to be. He was called back from retirement, and nothing prevents him from returning (I guess) but money. And not sure he needs more of it or couldn't deal with losing some of it.

Musk has a big mouth when it comes to stuff like that, and later when he gets the bill, he usually blames everybody else for problems. Just look at how twitter turned out a year later... issues all over the place but hey, good he bought it. If I'd be a former owner of twitter I'd laugh my azz off every day. If Musk buys Disney he tanks even more of his Tesla shares, and the stakeholders will literally tie him to one of his missiles and send him into orbit and tell him to go look for that red Tesla.

But for Disney, what really needs a reboot is not Star Wars, or Marvel... it's the company itself. Maybe a hostile takeover, or a forced seat of an antagonist on the board is what really brings things to at least be shaken up enough to get some change going. Since honestly, their whole management seems to be an echo chamber of failed politics and not business people. I'm just surprised nobody filed an investor's lawsuit against them yet. Maybe that's what the "hostile takeover people" will do once they have acquired enough shares to actually claim big damage.

I guess those 9 year old kids have all the money now though because Fortnite is probably the most successful videogame ever made.
I'll give Epic credit for adapting the game to what the market wanted, and creating a huge financial success.
I've never cared much for Disney or Epic myself, but it seems like a perfect match.
They've already been promoting that stuff in Fortnite and Rocket League anyway.

LOL. It's widely played by all ages, as it's a high skill cap shooter. Don't assume cartoon graphics somehow mean a game is only for kids.
