In the Games, cheats and Mods forum, there is a thread discussing the usage and performance of the Stalker Alpha version, which, unless one of the posters were a dev, must have been obtained illegally via downloading etc. Doesn't this break the forum rules and should it be closed?
We had a similar question on the Half-life 2 leaked alpha and had a discussion about it with all moderators and set the following policy. Discussing it is as far as we are concerned not an issue as it's not illegal. If you download a song through Kazaa would it be wrong to discuss the song ? As long as the discussion stays clear of links, code or in fact anything that would be illegal then it'll remain open. I understand your concern as it's a bit of a 'grey' area, but rest assure the staff is monitoring everything.
Since screenshots are obtained in an ilegal maner (the user has no right to take them as they have not licensed the software) shouldn't the screens be disalowed in such threads then, and only disscusion be allowed?
Sorry guys, I was just trying to discus the legality of posting screen shots from Alphas/Betas, I know some of you LOVE those threadsirate: ,and I don't mind them my self, but I still think it's wrong to encourage others to get the same ilegal software buy posting screens, but what a hell, since you all seem to like em so much, I will take an oath that I will no longer bitch in such threads.
Zapmaster, we'll draw the line at screenshots thus that's the grey zone I talked about. Discussing it and screenshots are fine as far as I am concerned. Anything beyond that is not. Okay, everybody happy ?
screenshots and discussions have always been fine ,if you are such a RIAA patriot or similar ,then going to such threads ,is unnecessary ,as it will only get you more angry ,and will result in threads like this one for e.g

yeah and I bet you prefer not to break the law by refusing to download mp3s ,serials ,keygens ,and you telling me you never done that? Theres no way ,I ll believe this RIAA wannabe crap mate,no offence .
err, nope I haven't downloaded those. Yes, there is a way. However, I admit to downloading the roms of SNES games to play on an emulator. But I don't make an entire thread to tell ppl about it etc etc. Just because stealing has been made easy doesn't make it acceptable. If you want to do it, then fine, stfu, I don't want to know. Maybe ignorance IS bliss.
Its not stealing ,if its already made available to you on a plate ,its up to you now to choose whether you want to download an mp3 or not ,stealing is when you go through a firewall and steal HL2 code of VALVE ,now thats stealing mate ,hackers actually made an effort ,but p2p networks like kazaa ,and the like are legal ,and have won countless times in courts already ,anyone can access it ,anyone can do whatever they want ,if anyone can ,its no longer a law for everyone ,its something thats more of a warning ,made by lame companies like RIAA.
