    Question;

With respect to the Superfetch/Prefetch, how does Windows 7 react to SSDs in a RAID array?

Is The array actually detected as a SSD?

Installed 8.1 update on SSD - indexing and prefetch were on by default.

Not sure what you're asking.....but SF can be disabled manually anyway so does it really matter? :3eyes:

Using SSDs in a RAID (0) array, does Windows recognized the array as merely a large SSD?

From what I have seen, Windows 7 sees a SCSI disk for my array, using IRST:

The question, then; how does Windows handle the array, as a SSD or something else, where disabling Superfetch/Prefetch may be beneficial?

Hopefully I clearly stated my query. If not, I can try to explain further...

SCSI is prob just the name Intel AHCI drivers use. AMD also called SATA SCSI till recently but it doesn't mean much other than a name.
It shows RAID 0 so it's clearly in RAID. If you want to make sure have a look in disk management. :)

lol even your optical drive is listed as SCSI.....

Yes, a side effect of IRST I am sure.

    However, the question remains unanswered.

No it doesn't....I said don't worry about the SCSI name, you prob have it plugged into a Marvell controller that supports SCSI devices. It doesn't mean anything honestly. AMD raid drivers also say SCSI.

Just turn SF off in Services if it's not already....

Its a well known fact that RST drivers above version show Raid devices as SCSI in Win 7.

IIRC it was when they went to version 11.5 and higher.

I cant remember the reason but Fernando (the storage driver master) explained it once upon a time.
Maybe it was something to do with TRIM working in Raid 0.

    Anyway its no problem.

Run a formal winSAT and Win 8 removes superfetch key from registry and just leaves Prefetch on.

    No, Intel:

So, does Windows see a SSD or not?

Mate, your SSD is installed and working in RAID 0 as it should be, I don't know how to make it any clearer.

Check you have the latest drivers tho, older sets don't support TRIM on RAID array. Dunno why home users even run RAID 0 with SSD's tbh. But it's your rig.....

So, it does not see a SSD, correct?

Yes, my X58 chipset does not support TRIM on RAID.

RAID0 gives larger "drive" and faster speeds, in my case anyway. I do not know about others...
