It's not even about whether ot looks good for 2017...it looks SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE than all of the other games including thr first GRID which was a DX9 games. The whole game is dead. It is a decent poly count car and aboslutely nothing else. It may as well have been a brown flat texture road and some sprite trees. It is the worst looking game for it's release date I have ever seen and is worse than the 2007/2008 GRID game...how is that even possoble...
Darren yes, NVIDIA stated that new Driver will bring a SLI profile to it, but if you see it the profile is empty... i am running 1080Ti SLI and Acer Predator X34 3440x1440 GSYNC and game runs weird sometimes. Like you said 60FPS for some seconds in the race, then it goes to 100FPS steady. But it doesn't look smooth.
game looks absolutely atrocious in the australian rally, graphics are like ps2 days, i don't know how and why, some other places like tarragona spain looks better, but australian rally by far the worst graphics in this game.
I have been out of the loop for quite some time now and i was looking forward to this game , but everything i read it's all negative about this game everywhere :/ . I'm unsure if it's worth the money as i still play DiRT Rally a lot and loving it. But if this game it's a downgrade of DiRT Rally i might pass on this one. So what do you guys think ? Should i buy it or let it pass ?
rallying is so much fun in this, u still have simulation and u need to be easy on the gas to be in top 3 and drive well, but graphics, some tracks look like ps2 days, that s all i can tell u
DIRT 4 is a step back in all aspects besides, I do not remember a Codemaster game as poorly optimized as this one.
i don;t think the driving is a step back, the graphics are yes, u could still end up in a tree or under the road if u don't drive and brake well, so the driving is spot on i d say.
The co-pilot instructions range from right on the money to utterly awful though, the instructions especially on the Australian stages are awful. the instructions are delivered way way to early, in pockets of usually five or six instructions half of which are useless fluff about ditches and over crests. The way it seems to be going is to deliver the instructions in a rapid fire way you see when watching the WRC but you're very rarely travelling fast enough that you need them delivered at the rate they are.
You can change the speed in which they are delivered. Also by improving you team you can get better/worse notes. If you have a poor spotter then some times you will get misinformation from notes.
The performance on my 290x system seems to be quite erratic. On rally stages on ultra settings I get close to 60 fps average (1440p) but on rally cross I get dips under 30 fps, stutter fest. I even tried lowering settings to the low preset and am still only getting around 35 fps. I'm running 3770k at 4.6ghz, not cutting edge any more but should be enough, no?
Meh ... what a waste of time. Bought the game , tested a few hours and i got bored of it really really fast lol , I got Refunded my dang money back , ugly and old dated graphics ( looks like directx 9 game in the year 2007 ) and a massive graphics and Physics downgrade from DiRT Rally wish by the way i still play a lot, Physics does not feel right for me on this game :/ , cars behave like driving on top of a bar of soap , bugs everywhere ! Ohh i was so looking forward on this title what a shame , i got a big disappointment ... :infinity: , not recommended for the price they are asking right now , wait until is on sale and maybe just maybe buy it then ! This guys sums it up nicely:
Spoiler alert. Its not like Dirt Rally because it isn't Dirt Rally. Its Dirt 4, Its a continuation of the other THREE Dirt games. Rally will have its own follow up.
even though, dirt 3 had much better driving and physics than this, this is a step back in all directions for codemasters.
+1 completely agree 100% with this statement since i did re-installed DiRT 3 and Colin McRae DiRT 2 to see and feel the difference between those games and DiRT 4 since i own and have played every single DiRT game ever made since it's inception on 1998 with Colin McRae Rally 1998 first game. I can confirm this is a huge step backwards in Physics , handling and feel. Even the Graphics are hugely dumb down in DiRT 4 and can be compared to those in DiRT 3 and DiRT 2 DX9 old style/looking very dated graphics :/ . I did give it a good try and i even tried it to like it , but nope i did not , so i got refunded my hard earned money back ...
