Hello. Is it necessary to install Directx 9 in Windows Vista ? On Microsoft website, at Directx 9 operating system requirements appears Vista. But I know that Vista includes Directx 10. So, neet to install Directx 9 ?
thats correct, because lots of games made for dx9 required random files from dx9 update to run proper in vista or xp, and the same thing is for dx10
I know, but for example Rainbow Six Vegas, after instalation updates Directx 9 Runtime . I knew that Directx 9 is installed, but what updates did Vegas ? On Microsoft Website is an update of Directx 9 for Vista : File Name: dxwebsetup.exe Version: 9.20.1057 Date Published: 7/31/2007 Language: English Download Size: 44 KB - 44.7 MB* Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000; Windows 2000 Advanced Server; Windows 2000 Professional Edition ; Windows 2000 Server; Windows 2000 Service Pack 2; Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows 98; Windows 98 Second Edition; Windows Server 2003; Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1; Windows Server 2003, Datacenter x64 Edition; Windows Server 2003, Enterprise x64 Edition; Windows Server 2003, Standard x64 Edition; Windows Small Business Server 2003 ; Windows Vista; Windows Vista Business; Windows Vista Business 64-bit edition; Windows Vista Business N; Windows Vista Enterprise; Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit edition; Windows Vista Home Basic; Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit edition; Windows Vista Home Basic N; Windows Vista Home Premium; Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition; Windows Vista Starter; Windows Vista Starter N; Windows Vista Ultimate; Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition; Windows XP; Windows XP 64-bit; Windows XP Home Edition ; Windows XP Home Edition N; Windows XP Media Center Edition; Windows XP Professional Edition ; Windows XP Professional x64 Edition ; Windows XP Service Pack 1; Windows XP Service Pack 2; Windows XP Starter Edition; Windows XP Tablet PC Edition So, update is necesarry ?
Could have been any one of the d3dx9 dll's that got updated (in my System32 folder i have 12 of them numbered from 24 to 35), or if you were missing one of those dll's it got added; or amy number of other DX 9 files that got updated. Also check the dates on them. Just because some of them are older, doesn't mean they don't still get updated occasionally.
Stormy, thanks' for reply. I've noticed that I haven't installed d3dx9_33 , d3dx9_34 and d3dx9_35 .dll. How did you obtain these files ?
Download the whole thing (58.8 MB), http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...f3-0949-487b-9247-8fee451bf952&displaylang=en run it and it will update what is needed. Or download the websetup, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en and it only downloads and installs the bits needed (44 KB - 44.7 MB). Last time I ran this one it downloaded and installed a whopping 2.5 mb worth of files. It will install/update all DX 9 files as well as DX 10 (Vista only), both audio and video.
