I compiled the New version of the Bulk Load Demo with Direct Storage 1.2
So here is the benchmark so everyone can run it:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-PbYIwZ-lXwhdqb3rKciTOlDuDDZLEjL/view?usp=sharing

This is a compiled version of Microsoft's Bulk Load Demo.

Post your GPU, NVme drive and PCi-e Gen. So we can compare results.
Supposedly, this won't do much for SSD's on PCIe Gen3 and Gen4. But will do a lot more for Gen5.
Should also bring performance improvements for HDDs because of the new Buffered IO Mode.

    Run the exe in :
    DirectStorage_1_2\Release\Output\BulkLoadDemo\BulkLoadDemo.exe

    Here is mine:

    6800XT - Sabrent Rocket 2TB - PCIe Gen3
It's a very similar result to the Direct Storage 1.1 benchmark

That is a nice improvement from the 1.1 version. 22GB/s to 28GB/s is a pretty good jump.
Your PC is going to blaze through in games like Ratchet and Clank.

Peculiar, the download page says the zip is 315MB but I'm only offered a 65MB file to download.
The zip extracts without error but running the exe says its not a valid Win32 application.
    Strange.

One link is for the source code. This is the github page.
The other is the compiled version. This is on a google drive page.

That is just the uncompressed value (315) vs compressed (65).

Is this benchmark dependent on the speed of your CPU in any way?

I ran it yesterday on my 2 TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus (boot) and 2 TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe M.2 SSDs and got 12 GB/sec and 18 GB/sec respectively. I have an Intel Core i5-13600 CPU and a RTX 4080 Founders Edition graphics card with 32 GB of DDR4 3600 memory.

Just wondered how others (on NeoGAF too) were getting 21+ GB/sec a Samsung 970 PRO drive when my result was 12 GB/sec (and that is a drive using the CPU lanes, I believe)?

I have read that there should be limited benefits on Sata SSDs and mechanical HDD as well.
Unfortunately it looks like the current drivers don't support them, I tried both the standard Microsoft SATA drivers and the Intel RST drivers but the results don't change:

    6900xt with aio
direct storage 1.2 bench.png Hello everyone. First post here since joining today.

6900xt sapphire toxic limited (aio), and assuming it ran on the drive it was installed on, 1tb 980 pro. Has 12gb ram cache via primo cache program, although the first test was the exact same as the 5th. If it defaults to the c: drive then thats a 118gb optane p1600x, with 4gb ram cache.

Also, don't try to run 2 instances of this, it completely locked up my pc. I did it on accident.
