Have you bought one? Was it any good?
Cards available on newegg, -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102962
But..nope, not getting it.
I got a single display with 1920x1080 resolution, don't need a powerful card to play any games.
My views on 7950 card, mostly use my PC to play games:-
More Vram, 3GB.
Good multi-display performance (because of the above).
Card is fast (obviously as expected)
Thou placed perfectly on the price chart with respect to performance (to some extent), it isn't any bargain at all. If the card were cheaper or at the same cost around the lower GTX version but with same higher performance, then its really a deal breaker.
No new features from a end user perspective who is a gamer, all the same features but just more speed.
(Yes; there is this SSAA for Dx10/11 in one of the public drivers release set, but is it purely software related or hardware?. I remember that ATI/AMD mentioned that they disabled that option for Dx10/11 due to performance issues...so if thats true then this is not really a new* feature.)
Drivers; hardware architecture (as mentioned on all review sites) is a real good read, but from software side I would expect much more* performance than whats currently protrayed.
(The performance will obviously increase, with tweaks and loop holes fixed..but that will be justified when* they actually do it and not now to get 7950/7970 in the first place.)
For a single display user currently, I don't find it much useful. Also as someone mentioned it on the other topic, unless the games are going to be based on next generation of consoles this amount of performance will actually not be utilized for most of the games on the market.
A card with the performance of the GTX580, 15 months after the release of the 580, at $450 is a no-go for me. I'll wait for Kepler for either better performance or better pricing. And if Kepler follows the path of profitability with bringing no much better price/performance ratio, then I'll stick with the GTX280 for a forth year.
Besides, I don't expect developers to make use of these cards before they switch their development cores & engines from XBOX360/PS3 focused, to XBOX720/PS4 focused.
I have a GTX590, no need for a better GPU for me this year.
I am still patiently waiting. I do intend on getting a 7 series eventually I mean I stuck with my 5870 this long waiting for them. I am waiting for more non-reference models to appear and well whatever NV is bringing to the table so there will hopefully be some pricing competition.
At the moment the prices are quite high for AMD(even higher in Europe) but seeing as they have no competition they can charge what they like.
I'll be getting a pair of 7970s.
I had the chance to buy a 7970 for ~ 460€ but hesitated
My 5850CF is luckily still in the game and are on par with 7950 which is why I'll wait for Kepler or another cheap 7970.
happy with my cf which is not working at a moment
I'm more then satisfied with my single 7970 atm since I'm only gaming at 1920x1080. No more microstutter for me . I think 7950 is a no go for any of those who's waiting for it..better wait for kepler or just grab a 7970 now.
Is this supposed to be the "5850" of this generation? It's too damn expensive if so imo.
i was thinking of getting one but the price/performance is just not there for me.
i just got a sapphire duel fan 6970 for $250 brand new. so far it is about 30-40% faster then my 5850 was with more AA.
No, I didn't buy one as I'm waiting for Kepler as neither the HD 7970 nor the HD 7950 are a very good upgrade for my 15 month old but 100% reliable GTX 580. I'll wait until the end of the year if I have to; the fact is that 2012 likely won't have many (if any) games that tax my GTX 580 anyway.
Scan have got the VTX branded 7950 for £335.99 instead of £364.55 ..today only...
You have to access it from the today only page for the cheaper price...
Not tempted to be honest, nothing out there that pushes my current hardware enough to want to upgrade atm.
No...AND NOT GOING TO.
No I'm waiting for the 78xx cards.
to all price posters
the card is faster than the gtx 580 what the hell did u expect the price would be?
If some are going to buy the 7960 card
Nope, £100 too expensive and given that im on 50+fps on all games i play(skyrim,BF3,FIFA12) i cant really justify it. £250 or less and i will have one.
At this point though i would like to go back to nVidia because AMD is price gouging.
If the GTX660 is around 7950 perf at the same price im going for the NV.
A card that makes the overpriced 580 drop down in price, not another overpriced card that makes Nvidia go, "nah, it's fine as it is"
While AMD have every right to price it like this, i think it's a huge mistake, as some people have a limit to what they will spend, which is why many people pick AMD over Nvidia.
At these prices its fairly obvious the 7870 will be about the same price as the 6970's are now, and about the same speed, so will make it a pointless card for 6950/6970 owners.
If Nvidia can bring something fast and cheap out soon, then alot of AMD owners will jump ship.
