    Hello,

I'm getting disconnected every hour on the hour. Which is quite painful as I play alot of online games. So I logged into my router to find that DHCP lease renewed every 60 minutes, I'm guessing thats why I get disconnected. I changed the lease time to 9999 minutes. My question is how do I fix this so that I wont be disconnected again due to these DHCP problems?
I have a Cisco EPC3825 EuroDocsis 3.0 Gateway router which has 3 computers connected to it by ethernet cables.

Event Viewer which shows hourly DHCP errors.

Yes, but the maximum leas time I could enter was 9999 minutes (which is 6,9 days). So I'll still get a disconnect once a week. Is there any way to fix that?

Have you tried assigning an IP to your computer?

Small networks like a home its much better to assign it as a static IP.

If you're Ethernet 7 day Lease time is fine, if you're on Wireless it will be a much much lower lease time. Like 1hr, 3hrs or a day.

Looks like they've just decided to make the lease time short incase of Wireless connections.

Please set the static dhcp option for the connected clients.

My best guess is that router is a piece of **** and it isn't accepting your DHCP renewal request at the 30 minute mark because of its short period of time on the initial lease. your new time should resolve the issue as it will try to renew every 3.5ish days. Also update the firmware if you haven't already.

Unless you're constantly connected to the game and never leave, this shouldn't cause any issues. I've set my lease time to 525600 minutes which is 365 days (for reserved address and a day for all other addresses). The DHCP client (your computer) would renew its address without any hitch unless you've got an application that's constantly connected.... If the client doesn't get a new address without intervention, there's a problem with the client or the server (server is your router in this case).

Error seems to be coming from DHCP not resolving, this sounds like a server issue. Try resetting the router and/or upgrade the router's firmware.
