I disagree. How do things happen when they already have the un-unlocked version out.

If it's real, I hope someone loses their job from that horrible ass planning job.

Uh Devil's Canyon is not the same as the locked chips. They have a completely different package they are being manufactured with.

Then were the 2500 and 2500k not the same thing? 3570k/3570, 4670k/4670? (honest question)

They were all released within a month of each other or at the same time.

True but maybe they are having issues with these new batch of CPUs maybe some what similar to the Broadwell CPUs and they need to push em back a couple of months to figure it out.

Idk man, it doesn't make any sense to me. I should stop posting about it because I'll probably regret saying something worse about them. *sigh* and to think I might work for them some day.

They are similar yes. It's unlocked vs locked. The difference here is that Intel chose to try out a new manufacturing method on the 4790K that they didn't use on the 4790. It has updated packaging and a new higher quality material between the IHS and die. This probably requires some retooling on their end which explains the delay. The 2500K/3570K/4670K all used the same method as their non K equivalents, there were no difference in manufacturing between them.

Oh I didn't realize the 4790 non k didn't have the heat spreader improvements.

    Still :finger: you intel

After thinking things over in my head for a good long while, I decided I'm probably going to run my 3770K rig until it blows sky high.

No point in an upgrade for a long time. I'm nowhere near a bottleneck on my cards at this point in time.

Until I reach that point I won't bother.

Z77 is still a great chipset. No point in an upgrade.

correct answer is :finger: AMD for not put up any competition to intel so intel can get away with what they been doing.

I intrested in this 4790k but i got seee prices right now 4790 costs 260$ + MB 120$ + 12gb ram 120$ i looking at 500$ just for that which sightless then what I payed for my current build cpu/mb/ram 5+ years ago.

But then short of Swtor and it ****ty engine, No game gives me issues.

Why 12 GB of RAM? You can't get 6 GB RAM modules!

Either 2x4 GB or (what I would prefer) 2x8 GB modules. To get 12 GB you would have to go (1x8 + 2x2), (3x4), (2x4 + 2x2), all of which is far less than ideal.

Asus JJ said ie 4770K or 4790k will OC the same be it z87 or z97, its all down to matured bios and auto tweaks, like Vccin adjustments. Most sites reviewing z87 & 4770k used older bios - not so optimized yet. And I agree its a lot better now with latest bios (been using mine since rls), pretty much everything auto expect core voltage and its very cool and balanced.

Speaking of Devils Canyon, its still basic Haswell chip underneath 4790K only with better thermals, they named it Devils Canyon because they didnt like next 4th gen much, they made a voting contest how to name it and then they came up with DC.

Also DC will be Z87 compatible, they used Z97 so they "paired them" and for Broadwell. She was gonna confirm z87 & z97 but then stuttered and asked other guy, while she knew the correct answer all along.

I mean this was back in September 2013 and look what he said about Broadwell, no sign of Z97 yet

Imo she didnt want to make a scene, they need to sell all those new Z97 and new sata express & m2 SSDs.. Or it will overflow and "kill" market profit.

    EDIT:

and apparently its 4.1Ghz full load, not 4.4ghz
    3.5ghz 4770k

Very interesting on the reviews of the 4770k and using an older version of the UEFI/BIOS.

Also JJ from Asus recommends that once you have your new computer setup that you flash your BIOS/UEFI to the newest version before you install the OS or OC your CPU.

Took 'em long enough. AMD did that years ago, albeit with a mahoosive step backwards in performance. Just shows to go that frequency isn't everything.

true they did, but then the have sucked clock for clock performance wise vs intel for just as long.

I associated AMD with the word fail as far as cpu go ( im sure me say that will piss some people off), most people i know that had amd cpu switched to intel and said never again too.

I do wish AMD would pull there heads out of there ass and produce chip that can compete so intel stops sitting on there own ass. ( not talking about apu or mobile chips)

    Thanks,

That 1.134v is pretty high voltage for 4790K ES @ just 4.2Ghz full load, I think my 4770k doesnt need that much, I know that 4.4ghz needs ~1.145v.

So its like so then and not 4.1 full load..

    4790K @ full load 42x multi

    4770K @ full load 37x multi
    *an example full load stock
    [IMG]

From what I saw old 4770K ES had better voltage then retail later, although some claimed it will be right the opposite..
Hopefully its not the same here, imo that new improved thermal wont help much if voltage becomes the limit again ie 1.35v+.
At least 4.5 - 4.7ghz will be more common now.

Out of curiosity, what's Vmax on 22 nm chips? 1.375 V being the top for 32 nm SB-E and Westmere from exerpeince.
