I don't mind MT engine, it can look great in those videos, they improved it quite a bit vs DR3, better lighting, character detail.

But as long as its optimized properly, fixed texture streaming and not so demanding DOF, DR3 cut-scenes were crippled on purpose for sure.
Im playing 1440p DSR with ingame native scaling 60fps vsync, but by those cut-scenes it drops to 30-40fps, reminded me of original Metro2033 DOF or Crysis2 Tessellation or Assassins creed pcss,..

is there a way to tweak this DOF in DR3?

    And how is DR4?

    EDIT:
I saw kx11 its bad on titanxp @ 1440p lol, well that doesn't sound promising..

    is streaming fixed?

It's hard to tell how DR4 is.
I saw kx11's post, but I've seen a few articles around the net stating that the Win10 version is solid.
Some occasional performance dips, but that it's easy to maintain a solid 60fps. That the game gives plenty of options, options that make a difference frame rate wise.

With screenshots showing the different settings. With the difference between High and Very High being so minuscule it's almost impossible to tell. Yet, playing on High can offer a 10+ FPS difference.

Well, got Dead Rising 4 as a late Christmas gift.

I've put a few hours into it, and using Mirillis Action I've been able to monitor my FPS in game.
At High settings, TAA... 1600*900 (as I'm too cheap and lazy to replace my old monitor), the game is running at a solid 60fps.
I've had maybe two times that it dipped a little. But, I fixed that by turning v-sync off. Now, no more drops.

It's running smooth. Smoother then DR3, and looks better. Feels more responsive. And, the overall tone and sense of humor is great.

It does look like a lot of smaller details were lost compared to the earlier installments though this video is also focusing on showcasing just these things so there are of course also aspects that these newer games handle better than the old ones. :)

lol.. looks like sloppy/rushed job, those body interactions look terrible vs DR1 and missing shadows, blood splatter, object interactions,...

Although could be xbox one limitation?

    Yeah.
Seems to be the popular way to attempt to dog on Dead Rising 4 (and other newer games). Focus on the small things that are dropped and ignore the larger, more gameplay focused changes that the newer games actually do better.

Played some on my friends xbone. It's just awful. They stripped everything away that made DR great and just made it some 'wacky' zombie killing game, more so than 3. I forgot to pick up DR1 in the xmas sale (Only game I got was Dead by Daylight) however I'll be buying as soon as RE7 is out and I'm finished with that.

    Awful.

    I'm enjoying it.
The main difference is the lack of a time limit. Which, while some won't believe it, there have been a LOT of fans asking for such a thing since the first game.

And, yes, you no longer have to escort survivors back to a safe house. Thank. God.
The AI on them has been terrible since the first game, and they've never fixed it. All they did in DR3 was give them more health to make up for it.
I'm far more happy that I don't have to babysit someone back to a safe little room before continuing on my own way.

And really, "some 'whacky' zombie killing game" sounds like you simply described Dead Rising as a series.
I know people like to say it's survival horror or some such schtuff. But, it's really not.

I felt like DR1 was more of a b-movie than survival horror, it played out like a cheap serious horror film then you had the cut-scenes which ended up being hilarious when you were wearing a costume. I like the time limit, I liked escorting (it was pretty simple once you realised you just had to tell them where to go, rather than have them follow you) I like that the zombies were stronger and night and I loved the psychos.

I'm glad you're enjoying it, but they pretty much removed everything I like from the game to the point it's just not DR to me anymore.

I loved DR1, really enjoyed DR2-OTT, couldn't get into 3 and 4 is the final nail in the coffin for me.

Edit: I had a look at the video posted above, one of the devs responded to it on reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/deadrising...0_years_old_details_vs_dead_rising_4/dc6jwxi/

Notice how he only points out how the graphics are better (they really aren't) and they should be seeing how DR1 came out 10 years before DR4. And my favourite part of the comment - 'While I'm not a huge fan of the series...'

I've never really seen a "horror" element of the series other then the fact that it's got zombies.
The games were always so firmly placed in a thick helping of campy dialog and corny stories it was impossible to take them seriously.
And really, they only got more silly and over the top as they went on.

The time limit... I see why some people liked it. So me, it just felt like a cheap way to try and force in a sense of urgency. A cheap way to make the game more challenging.
When, it's such a wonderfully created world, I would rather be able to explore... but instead, I have to rush about.
I get the point behind it, but, even with as much as I love DR 1 and 2, I've never been big on the time limit.

DR3 is mixed. I liked the more open world, the quicker weapon crafting... and the more freedom to explore and do things at you pace. But, Nick (even though he's got my name) is a bit boring.
And, it seems they tried for a more realistic look in DR3. Color wise, setting... everything.

DR4 at least seems like it's trying to bring back some of the more light hearted tone of DR2 Off the Record. Brighter colors, really over the top weapons...
Yes, they removed the time limit. But, that alone doesn't make Dead Rising... Dead Rising.
They revamped the inventory, which I actually like. Having the separate inventories for melee or ranged weapons is nice.

I do miss the Psychopaths. While not all were great... or even good. There were plenty in every past game that I just did not like. There were those that I loved.
And I miss them in DR4.

I enjoy the entire series. And while DR4 is a lot different from DR, each game has been a deviation from the previous ones in ways.
And, even with changes... I've still enjoyed each one.

In a later post one of the actual Capcom developers seem to confirm that this wasn't posted by a actual dev, just pretended to be one.
(Nothing unusual there though I guess, happens all the time with "insiders" leaking data which then turns up to be false and such.)

    Oh, figures :D

I think imma play some more DR4 when I visit my friend next, I think I went in with the mind set that I was going to hate it and just nit picked. I'll give it a chance on it's own merits.

I'm going to restart DR3 as well, it's been so long since I played it last I'm going to be lost on what I was doing. At worst I'll go back and play Off the Record again as I do love that game!

Wish they had some Lifeseeker tracks in 3 though! :D

    Got back to playing this.
There was a recent update for the Win10 version. It says all it does is add more difficulty options and some costumes.
But the game itself does feel smoother.

I pushed a few more options to Very High and still had a good time. Seems as long as I don't push Texture quality too high... it won't bog down my lack of video memory. :)

But, just started Case File 5... so, almost finished with the game. And, still enjoying it.
I know it's the popular thing to do and hate on DR4 because it's different... but, I'm having fun while playing it. And, if I'm having fun... that's important.

Out on Steam now since a few moments ago, will be interesting to see how that version is. :)
(Or well it's the same game of course but performance and user reception and such.)

Will be interesting, but considering the Win10 version was DX11 as well... I doubt it'll see much difference performance wise.

Steam version runs fine for me. I haven't had any issues and framerate seems pretty stable. It's not an amazing looking game but with the number of zombies on screen you can't expect a miracle.

The Win10 version ran great for me.
Using DXtory it showed holding a solid 60fps with the right settings.

Honestly, other then Quantum Break, the majority of Win10 store titles have ran fine to great. Gears 4 is up there with DOOM as one of the best running games.
