Is it possible to have more than 1 character progress saved? Because when I start a new char, my previous char gets deleted :(

What version of the game? There should be quite a few slots for use so that limit shouldn't even be there but I've seen it reported now and again.

I've used different slots, but after playing with a char in let's say slot #2, the char in slot #1 got deleted. Every time.

I think I might see what the problem is, there's only one savegame (auto.sav) so I assume when that gets overwritten those characters are deleted, maybe it's also down to the profile which is default.profile but as I can't do much with either file this is just a guess though it seems likely about the savegame.
(What is the savegame and profile anyway, profile is 1KB and the save I use is now 3KB.)

So what modded settings actually work? Can anyone give me confirmation? I see the settings being posted but no one says they improved anything. I modded my FOV.

Anything works if you mean game file modifications, I've tinkered with the shaders and scripts a bit so far but nothing amazing just yet, for the video.scr file you can enter various values but the game will revert back to the highest support if it's incorrect.
(FSAA for example won't work at all and there's only shader-model 3.0 files and code in the game engine - this version at least, The Cartel is using DX11 so the game engine can support that but it wasn't utilized here.)

Reverted back some of the HUD removals I did but other than those things I haven't modified much at all.

Not entirely sure why Techland would push Dx11 in The Cartel and yet not in Dead Island. Doesn't make much sense to me. If anything needs improving here it's the LMFAO animations and character shadows. :D

What i really like about Dead Island is the feeling of being vulnerable and constantly in danger.
You don't feel like a uber-killing-machine... at the beginning at least.

The changes I notice the most are the FOV fixes and the higher shadow resolution.

What shadow resolution did you set? And the only reason for it to revert to default settings is because it was incorrect settings? Not putting it to read only?

    The difference is really noticeable.
I made the file 'read only', not sure if it's necessary.

I changed that only and I got good results. FOV fixed and now shadows. AA next?

    lol..

if u wanna show off ur textures u really should make a at least 720p video of it instead of 480...

if there are better textures i dont see em..only thing i see is that u changed some pictures on the wall and comercial banners..
