JEDEC announced it has finalized the DDR4 memory standard. The first DDR4 memory modules for servers are anticipated next year, but widespread adoption among consumers isn't anticipated until 2015.JE... DDR4 Memory Standard is now Final
You could be waiting quite a while. I think you will definitely get another build in before DDR4 becomes mainstream.
I think I'll be early adopting this one too, just like I did with my current ddr3 setup Hope to buy a whole new platform .. whatever it may be.
I really don't think memory makes much difference in a gaming rig anyway. May as well just buy a rig now like hallryu said DDR4 will make almost no difference in a gaming rig, i'm fairly certain
it didnt. Higher frequency but also higher latency. And after all, it gets hidden by cache. I'm still gaming with DDR2 and i have same performance than anyone else with my system. (but on DDR3) I'll buy a DDR3(2500k) system soon bcs im moving to another city, but i could keep my current rig for a year or two... Anyways DDR4 at release will be mega-expensive so...
Probs get a new PC before then, but we'll see, haven't upgraded anything for over 2 years, might wait another 3 ;-)
3 more years of refinements of ddr3 it will prob be faster than ddr4 the 1st year or release 3 years from now.
It's been so with every generation. It would be nice to see a much faster speed bump this time around so that integrated GPUs could have useful amounts of bandwidth.
DDR4 sounds good.... an AHCI overhaul might be needed too. SSD are already approaching the 6gB/s limitation. Let's hope our SSD can run faster in 2015 or we'll be getting those bottleneck blues again. (
I just see massive diminishing returns on DDR4. The cost is going to outweigh the benefits. Seeing as DDR3 has not hit a wall yet.
probably right, but before I actual go after a new build I have to actual get new gpu that I actual keep and not send back cause of whining or it being to much lol
haswell is not a strong option for upgrade (ddr3) is weak as ib and sb... haswell-ex or broadwell are the next upgrade for me with DDR4 support.
