Can anyone tell me if a Mobo speced to use ddr 3 can use ddr2 or is that pretty proprietary? I found a good deal but am not sure if I can use ddr2 on it, it doesn't specify that it can, any help?

yeah... tell us what board it is... as kylzer said, some boards support both. The only way they support both is having memory slots for both types. DDR2 memory doesn't work in a DDR3 slot.

No point in considering DDR3 yet.......too expensive and the timings are the grestest, yet.

Stick with a board that still can use DDR2. Less expensive RAM and can be OC'd. Not to the extreme that DDR3 can but nevertheless, you won't lose any performance by getting DDR2 vs DDR3.

I'm going to buy a MoBo soon, but I'll be getting the P5Q-Deluxe, which still uses DDR2 vs the P5Q-Deluxe Wi-Fi which uses DDR3.

Yeah, timings are so bad at DDR3, that if you take DDR2-1066, it will most likely be faster than DDR3-1333 ;)

DDR3 1333MHz @ 9-9-9-24 will give very, very similar numbers in benchmarks to tight DDR2 800MHz @ 4-4-4-12. Take it from someone who's got both. There's bugger all performance in DDR3 as it is right now, unless you're at 1600MHz or higher. And if you're after that, take a saw to the shop, as you'll come back minus two limbs :-D
