Days Gone

How does it compare to DayZ Standalone with mods? NVM! It is SP, not MP!

 

IMO it's a great game that maybe doesn't have individual parts that stand out but it's a great package all together, decent writing and good voice acting makes the main characters compelling IMO and the various gameplay elements work really well.

 

Played on PS4 Pro when released (2 years ago?). The game is all right.
Bought PC version to check out improved graphics and I'm not disappointed.
The dev did a very good job. Ultrawide support is good and HDR10 grading is spot on. Very solid.

 

ah cool. i will follow Steam reviews, sounds like a solid purchase.

 

How does the game run for you guys? I'm still waiting for it to download and everyone on the steam forums either has the game crashing or they all own 3090s... Too many trolls

From technical point of view, Days Gone is arguably the best UE4 game on PS4/PS4Pro. They did a lot of changes to the renderer and implemented quite a few custom screenspace lighting passes. Also the typical UE streaming hiccups were almost non-existent. Sony made good decision when they bought the studio.

Anyway, I've never finished the game on PS4, but as I remember I did enjoy it.. except of some stupid hordes gameplay. I'd resume it on PC, but I don't feel like starting from scratch. If only they allowed us to import PS4 saves...

 

5hours in, expected nothing, fantastic game.
It's beautiful, runs extremely well, seems to have a good story to tell, the bike driving is cool. AI isn't perfect but good enough imo.

That was pretty much my experience on PS4, the videos made it seem interesting without being completely compelling but it's a game that massively improves as soon as you start playing it for yourself

 

I bought the PS4 version for less than 20€ some time ago now. Now I saw this video and I'm conflicted over if it would have been worth the extra money to buy it on PC instead. Probably not but according to the video the loading times are quite bad on PS5 and that's something that probably gets annoying after a while.

 

Considering you have a 3080 and an ultrawide monitor you probably should get it for the pc. I mean thats a different experience compared to ps4 version. Game runs well and looks better.

 

I have the PS5 (backward compat-PS4 Pro version at 4K CB and 60 fps) installed to an external 4 TB Cosair SSD and the loading time is around 20 seconds at most to get into the game has no real loading times as everything is streamed. Saving 10 seconds on that initial load really is not a reason to double-dip on the PC version in my view. However, as Digital Foundry has reported, it does have enhancements over the PS5 version, including better global lighting and draw distances so if you enjoyed the game then this does appear to be a good PC conversion.

 

I luckily have the PS5 and not the PS4. Yes, you're probably right but I don't feel good about buying it one more time

DF reported up to 35 secs loading but if it's only one time then that's not so bad. I try not to buy games on PS5 that also exist on PC but I've also not had my PS5 for so long. Biomutant for example, I'll definitely buy for PC and not PS5. Same with RE Village (if I ever buy it).

 

Played a couple of hours of this today and it is a nice little game. Performance wise with high settings, I'm getting just over 60fps at 5120x1440. Locked to 60, the game runs and looks great.

 

Very Positive reviews in Steam too...
