A relative of mine is using a mobile hotspot and a wireless data plan for her internet (only option there other than dial up).
Anyone know a good and free data monitor she can use so she doesn't go over her data cap?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I use NetLimiter, although only for throttling some applications. It has a Stats view which will monitor the total data transferred through a computer, but I'm not sure if it has a system for automatically notifying the user of when data runs over the cap.

Thanks for the suggestions. I couldn't get the program you suggested to actually read the network. The program looked nice though.
Turns out Windows 7 has a widget on the MS widget store that works. Just type is useage or network and you'll find it.
It even can warn you when you near a certain amount of data use. Nice.

I use BitMeter to monitor my bandwidth usage. I also use my DD-WRT enabled router's bandwidth monitoring tool in its control panel to ensure that my desktop's numbers aren't skewed ... also it accounts for all WAN traffic from all the machines in the house.

Yup, they're not totally accurate as measure all LAN traffic not just internet.
