Size isn't surprising to me, it has 2 GPUs onboard.

Nvidia is bound to sacrifice performance in order to change architecture.
If the consumer version of Fermi is not cancelled during Q1, what you will indeed see is a new architecture card but with levels of performance well under most enthusiasts expectations. There are numbers that have been kept out of Press Releases, Presentations, etc.

The whole speculation just has been blown out of proportion all over magazine's and internet forums. One thing is the performance people WOULD LIKE or HOPE or even EXPECT Fermi to achieve, another thing is numbers, facts, etc.

They indeed do have the card, but not only it does not perform at Hemlock's level, but it will only be ready (next revision) by late Q1, so they may altogether try and leapfrog a whole generation (still undetermined, believe me). Anyway, Nvidia will cease being a consumer graphics card manufacturer during next year. It's something that has been happening over time, although people just ignore the signals (whether intentionally or not).

There is a whole new NVidia being born here, people should have already noticed that their core current cash-cows are Quadro's, Tesla's, Tegra's, etc.

Have you ever actually tried to break a pcb with your bare hands?

AMD should step in and start advertising their cards because they are far more efficient than nVidia's. 4870X2 Surpasses the GTX295 by far, 2400Gflops compared to less than 1800.

Even if AMD take the graphics market they will still be a company to be reckoned with, regardless of the billions nVidia forecasts in growth in the business and science sectors. Currently they hold the majority of the market and doubt they're just going to give up. We, as consumers, need to have both nVidia and AMD in competition, or else we'll be paying hundreds for the slowest, ****tiest chips.

Yeah the Gflops spec compare doesn't mean jack, the 295 has got more ROPs and Tex/clocks it is faster because of that.
