Based on some benchmark that compare by unwinder, the performance is HD4000>kepler>AMD GCN.
I also tested myself, and HD4000 did faster than Kepler, based on the hardware H.264 of cause.

I am not sure how fast is the newer Haswell or Maxwell is, but Maxwell might faster than Haswell, as Haswell only increase quality.

If HEVC also using GPGPU solution, then it should be kepler/maxwell/GCN win, as Intel GPU is still weak on computing, if I am right.
But so far HEVC is not famous for now, so maybe when it become famous and stable, then Hardware solution is coming out with newer Graphic too.:)

But isn't encoding quality with CUDA really crap compared to Handbrake? I have done some personal testing, and although CUDA is so much faster the quality difference to Handbrake is *very* noticable compared to filesize.

So I gave up on CUDA after seeing bad quality, which seems to be the same with every CUDA enabled encoder software.

No problem, but the driver is only intended to bridge, to pick out Tools with NVENC support.

Sorry my friend, as far as the Technonology and stuff.. Im Clueless!
iv been using CUDA for converting since the nvidia 8800.
i do know and apriciate the power of CUDA.

as from today, for me, YOU ARE THE MAN! you are the light in the sky.

    so i have a question:
    nVidia just released Driver 340.52whql,
is this the same as yours? (without the mod of course).

    Hello everybody!

    I have a question.

How i can enable CUDA support to convert video in 340.64 driver? An user modified the 340.52 driver and enabled CUDA support, but I would like to activate it for this version of the driver (340.65), could someone tell me how to modify the driver to enable CUDA?

    Thanks!

    CUDA Convert

Just in case anyone is curious, I recently tested a bunch of these CUDA converting programs because I had a huge batch job I needed to complete.

    Here are my results:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16CrVkj0W-XTZqon_U8j4ka1VHDypn7gz48LDSD19gQ4/pubhtml

Fastest programs seem to be MediaCoder, ArcSoft, and WinAVI (at time of writing)

Keep in mind, for certain programs faster doesn't always translate into better quality. I'll try to post some comparisons when I get the time.

Can you compare it with NVENC api too?
It will be interesting to see the difference between software solution and hardware solution. :)

I definitely want to! The only problem is identifying software that actually takes advantage of the new NVENC API. To my knowledge there's only one or two known converters that use it.

I don't know how it compares to my test file, but someone has used NVENC to convert The Hunger Games (142 minutes long) to .mkv in only 12mins 15s!
That's 11.592 times faster than real-time! If those results are similar with my test file, that would be an absolutely phenomenal speed increase over NVCUVID.

    Download 340.66 with NVCUVID Support:
    R340.66 CUDA

If you have already done these steps with another driver from me, these steps need not be performed again.

    Easy installation:
    1. Download and extract the Driver
    2. Search "nv_disp.cat" in Display.Driver
    3. Follow the Video
    4. Now you can install all my modded drivers, without disabling driver signature enforcement.
