Something that baffled me in the last few days...
Billhurt (Hilbert :)) told us Tomb Raider 1 is available for free on Steam, thanks geeza.
I vaguely recall playing it but dont understand why it wasnt in my steam library, I remember I did/do own it.
Anyhow, I thought this game is gonna need a revamp but its extremely good still, I'm impressed.
Now playing it again and enjoying, this game has legs.

I played Crysis 1 again a few years ago and while its pretty good, it is dated.
I remember how good it was at the time and every PC upgrade made it that bit better.
I cant wait to see this revamp capable of killing a modern PC lol.

Great, now they can perhaps make it look like the early versions shown?
C1 I will still ignore because the AI was not terrific

Add raytracing, like they added that awful tesselation to C2 which was not even visible.

It really doesn't (look better) it's very dated now. You're being nostalgic.

I didn't like how the second two went full blown alien, I preferred shooting humans. Once you started fighting aliens your nano suit abilities feel kinda useless.

The textures are not supersharp, but there is a level of interactivitity, physics with many things which are lacking in modern games.

In your opinion of course. He wasn't just referencing the original or even just Crysis as a series, but remakes in general. You're being biotchy. ;)

I'd never played the series at all. I see why teen boys would play sans pants. I mean could they have tried harder for the first impression of the game to be 'look at my teets'.

I hope they improve the threading. It's odd that a lot of games from that era when consoles and PCs had 2 or 4 cores, that they still were so reliant on single thread performance.

Crysis is a great game simply because the shooting mechanics and gameplay feel nice.

The dropped the ball a bit with Crysis 2 and 3, but those are also fun diversions... if not too consolized.

Even the original Crysis scales pretty well to 4K and still looks fantastic today...

The original game does look dated when you play it now, but when you realise it's nearly 15 years old you view it differently.

I wouldn't mind a remake, they could update the visuals while optimising it better.

Maybe a cheap and cheerful remake at a mid level price point rather than something more expansive that sells at full price.

Hey if Bethesda can re-re-re-release-remaster-vr Skyim since 2011 then Crytek can at the very least re-release-remaster Crysis since 2007...

    xD

As long remastered version will give 25 fps with 2080 Ti with every technology that can be there implemented I will buy it. It would again become a future proof game. Physics to next level? Please do this as there aren't any games with a good one.

What the original Crysis really needs is proper multi-threading. This is the major performance bottleneck in the game and Crytek already have done it for the initial release of the game for the consoles (PS3 and XB360). The graphics portion of the code can be ported to the latest CryEngine and doesn't even have to be DX12, if this will cost too much time and resources and the remaster will still do its purpose, instead investing in higher detailed textures and models.

If they're making a remake with all the bell and whistles, featuring their raytracing tech and all ... I'll consider getting it if it cost less than 20$

As a comparison you can find Doom ethernal at 35$ right now

Waste of time. All the game had going for it was the graphics that were years ahead of everything else. This would come out looking on par with current games. All you have left is that bland gunplay and mediocre gameplay.

That Crysis 1 footage at the end didn't look remastered. The original always looked that good.
