I played Crysis 1 many times and have it installed, unfortunately it is not that optimized for current hardware, hope they are able to fix it.

I would hardly call that a decent move, although they might be decent people :)

Your post could have been summarized as 'Can it play Crysis'. Therefore, just about everyone had the same thought(s). Personally, I think a better case in Crysis creating the viral video game meme.

Single threaded mostly. I can run the game fairly well with a 6850k/1080Ti at 4K. But there's dips in the bench into the 50's. I should fire it up again for giggles just to what what I'm actually getting. I'll post it up.

Edit...sheesh...Origin...says Oct 2017 was the last time I fired it up...

I thought these Crysis games were fantastic, actually I'll re-phrase that I thought the first Crysis game was fantastic....I replayed that numerous times and I was amazed with the graphics as well as the atmosphere, and the freedom to move in the environment (especially at the start of the game). I also thought the story telling was great and entering the alien enclosure for the first time was really quite a breath taking experience and change of atmosphere and pace. I just thought everything about it was great, I'm not sure I'm as receptive to those types of games nowadays but no doubt that was one of the games that made the biggest impact on me, Half Life 2 series was one of the others, and Bioshock.

Would I replay a remaster of Crysis...probably, but how many times I don't know...probably once.

It sure would be nice to be able to install Crysis again and have it work correctly so this news is nice.

    Why can't you install it?
Edit, or what isn't working correctly?

I liked the games but hate Super Human Powers from a suit. Plus being stealthy is boring in a good shoot em up.

tbh i don't think it needs a remake, it still looks fine.

DirectX 10 wasn't working for me last time I tried, could only get 9 to work, I have the original copy of it, not what was re-released on Origin.

With a re-re-release I guess it will use 11? so that would be nice.

Crysis has no endearing qualities that would make it worth buying today.

It was fine for its time.

Crysis Warhead was better paced than the original in my opinion.

However, contrarily to the majority, in the original I actually liked the alien 'zero gravity' level, both in design and navigation (which is what most people hated about it). I still remember the first time I got to that beach in the first game during the sunset. When I first saw the water physics I had to stop a moment and just look at it. And I wasn't running the game at maximum settings either (like most people at the time), otherwise I had something like 15 FPS.

A few years later in some bundle at a reduced price I finally got Crysis 2 on Origin. I played it until I believe the 2nd or maybe 3rd level (entering the city). I got bored to death and uninstalled, never touched it again since then. I completely skipped Crysis 3 and never even watched any playthrough of it on YouTube either. I guess I had my fill from the first game and the Warhead campaign.

Let them bring on the mind blower, PC melter for the next decade again.
Crysis was misunderstood for being way ahead of its time.
We need a game like that.

It has many of the same qualities as the most popular FPS out there, and it has a certain cache. 'It was fine for it's time'. Did you even have your own PC when it released?

Crysis 2 I felt was not as good as the original also, they changed the suit controls in a way where it was overly simplified, it removed a bit of the fun factor in my opinion, didn't enjoy the direction the story headed also, I did finish it.

Crysis 3 is god awful in every way including how poorly optimized it is, I did not finish it.

I can't argue with you. I never finished Crysis 3 either.

I really like Crysis but i think a remake is unnecessary. The gameplay and graphics are still good enough to hold on against modern titles.

This makes much more sense. They could continue from the cliff hanger of Crysis directly.

I don't quite get why they need remakes. They still look better than most new games and plays great. I don't believe we can get enought jump in graphics to justify buying or playing it again. And I also agree that sequel would make more sense.
