I wonder will they frack it up like the first remaster or do a proper remaster job this time...who im i kidding ofc they will screw it up.

 

There is no way they can frack it up. It was a console port to begin with; unlike the first Crysis which was a PC exclusive to begin with.

 

It was a great pc game and first AAA dx11 title.
I was part of crysis2 community, awesome times.

 

Its where nvidia used tessellation overkill (even under the map) to amd look bad even tho game didnt need that much. Ten years ago and they are still doing similar crap, eh.

Btw dx11 was a patch game originally used dx9.

 

Worked fine on nvidia and the overkill stuff was basically fake-news at least for nvidia.
Anyways remaster won't be done by Crytek tho eh?

Fixed.

Nvidia had frack all to do with how Crytek did tesselation, and FYI, offscreen tesselation is culled in a properly working driver.

FFXIV and many others continue to tesselate in out of bounds/non visible regions too

The real issue with crysis 2 had nothing to do with the offscreen tesselation, it had everything to do with the onscreen tesselation being performed everywhere, even in things that it wasn't necessary to do so.



Combine with the fact AMD's hardware was incompetent at performing tesselation using factors above 8x, and with the "amd optimized tesselation factor" setting by default there is visible degradation of the quality of some wall surfaces.

AMD ****** up their own product, it might feel good for you to drink Robert Hallocks coolaid, but the D3D specification for tesselation has a lower and upper limit for tesselation factors and AMD fails to scale above the lower end due to their serialized pipeline. A fact which has kept the usage of tesselation to craft high poly worlds at a minimum since the capability was introduced in 2009.

 

Next thing you know they will be announcing remasters for games that haven't been released for the first time yet.

 

Is this going to be like a metro fail console edition ?

 

If Crytek had actually done the remaster for the first game themselves, chances are it would've turned out better.
But, they outsourced it.

Now, it's a matter of will this be outsourced as well? And if so... same company, or someone else?
I don't know from personal experience, but been told by some friends who've worked on it... CryEngine is not easy to work on.

A buddy who worked on a project on it said he hated the experience when compared to other engines.

 

But can they make it a fun game this time? I don't give a crap how it looks if it's boring again.

 

Opinions.

I found the first game to be boring, and a poorly paced "slog" to get through. Where as, I liked Crysis 2 as the best in the series.

 

Crysis 3 was my fav, crazy alien weapons.

 

What is happening in the video that would make it get blocked for copyright reasons?

Crysis 2 did the basics right, as in a linear shooter with a good story, but it is still as linear as it can be, A walled in experience as the Newyork Times described the game.

 

Wasn't there also a rumor that Crytek pretty much issued all 3 "remasters" from Saber at once and wanted them out back to back so pretty much bulk of the work was rushed and they only were allowed to take a step back quietly after backlash of how lackluster was the first one?

I don't know anyone onboard Saber but given we now hear about 2nd one and no doubt we'll start hearing about 3rd one near 2022 it seems quite plausible to me.
I mean i'm not trying to push it onto Saber, some of their works were pretty amazing - such as Witcher 3 switch port (we've yet to see how they would tackle the next-gen "remaster")

 

They have to make easy money somehow after all the failed frivolous lawsuits against Cloud Imperium.
