Does anyone know if the DBpro thing actually improves sound quality if you use headphones?
Robscix are we going to see a review of the Soundblaster Z any time soon? Its released now.
When did Creative release the new cards?
Only the SoundBlaster Z is released. The Zx and ZxR are still to be released. The Z is available on Amazon now. I read some comments of owners and they seem impressed. Waiting for Robscix to review them before I buy any of them. I'm after the ZxR myself.
lol, that's going to piss someone off - the grammar's irritating me.
Not a bad price, £83.18.
ZxR is @ Creative site (PR info and pics)
Zx has full detail spec
Idk it still looks to much of a gamer card then anything else, I want all in one like X-FI, but i guess that's come to end... ah well
The ZXR is the only one which uses op-amp socket while the others doesnt and use which ever op-amps they used.
Can anyone tell me if there is a digital I/O, analog and mic connections on the back panel? (ZxR version)
Last time I saw the picture of the rear it had two Combo Optical/Coaxial plug where a Adapter is used to plug in Optical, and where the adapter is removed its a Coaxial plug.
That or optical ones are on the daughter board.
Core3D makes me cringe.
Yeah but this time they've put some other components besides the crap3D chip.
Here's a review of the Soundblaster Z.
This is extremely promising:
"The player has the choice of Foobar2000 WASAPI can be chosen as 24 and 16 bit. ASIO support is promised later through a driver update."
Z apparently has the same DAC than Forte so while it is pretty good, I'd rather get the ZxR since side stepping wouldn't improve anything.
Firstly i only use my PC for games, looking at the spec of the ZXR and ZX or just the Z as it's the same as the ZX minus the headphone and microphone gadget it comes with do you think i'd notice any difference at all between the 2 versions (ZXR and ZX)?
Only for games remember.
Sound quality. For me, that matters in games too.
I reckon the sound quality would be almost identical, but it really depends if the headphone and mic gadget has a mini dsp incorporated in it...
I use a 5.1 surround sound system by Logitech via an optical cable.
So you feel the sound quality in games between the ZXR and ZX/Z will be identical?
I'm trying to decide if i should bother waiting for the ZXR in December or just purchase the Z now but i want to be sure that i'd made the right choice, i'd kick myself if i purchased the Z and then found out later that there was a noticeable difference when playing games using the ZXR.
Try to get some exact specs on all 3. Then it's just a matter of waiting for some reviews. This would then confirm everything, maybe wait a bit...
