Wow what a **** storm..... Anyway didn't see it mentioned but here's a
good link to the drivers and updates.

    http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/

It's got all the links you need :)

The drivers seem fine to me in XP & Vista. There's a 2 part ISO CD image
and 2 Vista only updates to get and of course the Alchemy thingy.

I've seen Daniel_K's work for a while now and while I've never used them its nice to know if I ever move over to vista then I know where my first port of call will be.

As for creative, they've always been slow with driver releases and fixes. This is nothing new. What is new is their now blatant attitude towards drivers that support older products in vista.

Holding stuff back in drivers is nothing new for creative either, their EMU line of cards have hardware support for soundfonts that will probably never be made use of (why???).

Keep watching the forums, I've been watching for at least 1 1/2 years to see if the x-fi situation gets fixed. It's a case of wait, then, wait some more.

Creative are on my boycott list along with Sony.

p.s. just you people wait until windows 7, this crap is going to start all over again

Don't be surprised if the X-Fi drivers get fixed soon. Too bad it will be for the new X-Fi 2 when it gets released, and then you current-gen X-Fi owners will get even more gimped drivers just like the Audigy users.

Can someone give me a working link to the X-Fi drivers? The one on the brazillian site doesn't have SBXF_VTDRV_LB_2_15_0004A.exe and the link to plain file front doesn't seem to have it, they must have removed it.

I'm just after something that would sensibly use my 24bit rear output channel hardware (like kX drivers default to) on Window Server 2008 X86_64 (if I try it out!).

kX isnt' coming to Vista 64 so I may have to just use these if I try the server-geared O.S out (...now!) and not even use the better hardware on my audigy 2 ZS (to use some apps like games which assume some speaker config with >2 speakers). Damnit!

At least the newer O.S(es) will do some sampling rate conversion better. Prolly gonna leave Server 2008 x32 on here for the kX drivers. Damn, gonna have to think about this one (put Linux and WinXP on this IDE drive too hehehe!).

:stewpid: Wow that blog owns. :3eyes: (nomoregoatsoup <3 Guru3D)

...it's been getting quite a few thousand daily hits a day since "recent Creative interest" too. :nerd:

I'm just hoping we all get better drivers from all of this. I think we can forget Vista Audigy series support though. Which is a really shame considering the hardware is perfectly capable. :(

...and still nobody has any good "competitor soundcards" to offer us yet.
I guess I'm going with C-Media after all.

I love how Creative Labs tried to buy/get him off by promising him a free X-Fi 2.

I also love how other sound card companies contacted him.

It'll be interesting to see how successful Creative Labs are with the X-Fi 2 launch after all this. Sadly though, from what he said. "And I really hope people don’t forget this."

Most will forget sadly. :/ But not the die hard enthusiasts that are amongst these communities all the time.
