Hey, My unRAID and Backup PC has 10700K, no GPU Im thinking of upgrading because the value of my CPU will go down with every month i wait, right now if I upgrade, ill have to pay about 30-40% of the NEW CPU [if we take into account selling my old one] My 2 options of same price are 11900 non K or 11700K, both have the new iGPU and both cost same price Also i can get 10850K, ill gain 2 extra cores and 4 threads but same old iGPU What do you think?
well,no,it's not. but it's a bad move.it's a power guzzler, limited to 3600 ram and not that much faster.it's worse value than 5800x and that is saying something. also,10700k is fine, the value has already gone down in the recent months, and it's not going down anymore anytime soon.if you sell this one and get 10850k,its value will come down more. start saving for zen4 instead of trying to pay premiums for miniscule performance returns on current cpus.atm anything higher than 10700k is gonna perform marginally better in gaming.see ? https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/c...a-5600x-i-dare-you.437163/page-6#post-5899852 getting faster ram and overclocking/tweaking it is as good or better performance gain, and won't produce nearly as much heat or power consumption.
You didnt read anything i wrote? Its unRAID [used as Networked attached storage + bunch of virtual servers] and Backup PC, good iGPU is important for me too Its not my main rig
do you need a better igpu and a marginally better processor ? if you need a better display output get a dedicated card, don't upgrade igpus.if you need a better workstation cpu,get a 3900x or 3950x. the solutions you had in mind are neither effective nor worth the money.not to mention panic selling a 10700k now and getting a 11700k that will lose value even worse than the one you have now. rkl has increased power consumption a lot in every way, including idle, light load and max load.you'll be wasting money not only in trading 10700k for 11700k but later on in energy bills.
Why don't you just get a 1050 GTX or 1060 GTX and call it a day? For light use, that is MORE than enough.
Have you seen the prices for GPUs right now? Check out amazon, 1050 is about 400USD The situation is same in my country, but they mark all GPUs as "sold with full build only", so the good prices are for people that buy a full kit, the only GPU I Can buy for "original price" is GTX 1030 2Gb for about 120USD lol
there is one thing I don't understand. if the quality of igpu matters so much to you,how did you manage that long with a hd630 ?
Pretty sure you can buy a slightly better dGPU for not so much money, but better than iGPU. It really depends on what you "want". Even a 1030 is better than iGPU.
When i sold my 2080TI and until 3090 came out and was available on amazon I used just the iGPU and it worked in 4K for web browsing but was slow, then i removed the 3090 and installed a water block on it for the main build so I was without GPU again, then i was gifted 980Ti and thats what I use now, its fine for web browsing and video and even run FNV in 4K 60. When i finally finish the main build and turn this into one unRAID ill take out the 980ti of course i dont want that in unRAID [for power and heat reasons] I think ill just leave it as is, in any case because im not changing my board i dont have HDMI 2.0, so ill have to use diplayport to HDMI 2.0 adapter like i did before. P.S. Engineering sample 11900K but with iGPU disabled goes for 370USD and thats with taxes and shipping, can do 5Ghz, but the lack of iGPU kills it for me, if i was keeping this PC for gaming i would upgrade
Not right now, 1050 is 400USD on amazon The only thing I can buy for original retail price is 1030, but it can be worse then iGPU in some situations, all i need is HDMI 2.0. But dont forget that adding a GPU will take my last PCIe slot and its a "server" type of PC, if i decide to add something in future like another SAS card or capture card ill have to remove it
I cannot find a 1060 where I am, but I can find these: GIGABYTE NV GTX1050Ti 4GB GDDR5 = 186 USD GALAX NV GTX1660 1-Click OC 6GB GDDR5 = 215 USD. Note you have to check if the warranty will be covered where you are.
Local. GST or sales taxes already included. If you REALLY need help, I can have it airmailed for whatever the costs it but you need to check if your country allows IMPORTING right now and all the VAT BS.
If you sell ur CPU for a good price, that upgrade is cheap. Is it worth the hassle? Only you to really know.
If you're running virtual machines, wouldn't that be the better choice? Not sure if you really need the better iGPU. Though overall I kind of agree with most people here, 11 series would be more of a side grade than and upgrade, not much improvement. EDIT: looks like the onboard GPU is quite a bit better on 11 series though.
