Source code of Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 has appeared online, developer and publisher Valve confirmed in two statements on Twitter. ... Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 source code leaked
Hmm, RIOT testing the water before their monstrosity FPS release? Spending money on ads are so yesterday. Now spreading "fake news" and misinformation is the real modern advertisement. Why waste money, when hungry media will just spread the drama for the sweet sweet clicks. This leak adds nothing new. It's literally just a dirt to Valve face. Youtubers and other media picked it up and made a crap storm out of it, shaming the Valve, getting sweet sweet clicks and adding "EPIC FAIL" capture over Gabens face. Perfectly shows how easily people opinion and preferences can be changed.
Because even if it were relevant, it would have been fixed 3 years ago, when it was originally leaked.
You have clearly no code knowledge and absolutely no idea of how this works. This code is functional and can be used to do a lot of harm, this code is not that far of from latest code, heck theres even quake 1-2 code in there even minh lee's hl1 code is still used to this day in the code, so stop talking like you know, you clearly do not. To backup my crap. https://twitter.com/thexpaw/status/1253068082203025414 https://twitter.com/ZooL_Smith/status/1253124967694241792 Valve did not know about the leak: so what is fixed you say? https://twitter.com/CSGO/status/1253076034162839552
Nothing in this leak can be used to exploit official vac protected servers. and if you join public unprotected servers, well you were already playing with that risk anyway.
Hyperbole is doing you no favors. This is a very popular game that regularly sees security updates. sverek is not wrong; not entirely anyway. Although it's very possible that not all security exploits were patched within those 3 years, there's a very good chance that they all will be. Once such things are exploited, it will be brought to Valve's attention. In an ideal world, the vulnerabilities would be brought to Valve's attention before they're exploited, but the fact of the matter is those exploitations won't last.
Where is my open-cs-go? Maybe this situation moves Valve to work more on the security of their game, I don't know if it is weak or something but you want to fill all the holes possible.
Thank you very much for recalling me that I have no idea how code works... If you you have idea how C++ works, please review leaked code for yourself. And see how hilarious it is for yourself. And as professional Developer, Valve bothered to review leaked code before calling out this drama. You can check their twitter for updated information regarding the leak.
Old code doesn't mean useless code... Even in "new" game you could found what you call "old code". (in cheat or hack too but it's not in this forum) Leaked code are always interesting.
Of course it's not useless code, whether it useful for exploit creators or not is different topic. It doesn't mean it is 100% safe to assume it, however, I am have some trust in Valve and basic understanding that it doesn't pose threat to the players. someone bothered to capture the leaked code and pick up the funny lines, here it is. If you feel bad about your code, cheer up!
