Comet-Lake-S is for desktops, Comet Lake-H is for mobile, and Intel is planning to release quite a spiffy proc for that platform. Meet the Core i9-10980HK, rumored to be announced on April 2nd. ... Core i9-10980HK Info Slide Surfaces 8-core Mobile up to 5.30 GHz with a Velocity Boost
I will be very impressed if they manage to pull their claims off. Not a lot of space to hide an AC cooler in a laptop chassis.
3 power bricks and a 20 pound chassis later ..... yeap 5.3 on 1 core for 10 seconds with a 500 watt power draw in cpu alone
I am all for adding more power in the mobile space but is this really necessary in a laptop? I mean many other things in a laptop will bottleneck before this CPU does, a 4 or 6 core with decent clocks would be good
Is anything necessary? Eating and drinking is necessary Some like to play Cinebench all day, and some like to play fortnite in 1080p all day. Buy what you need/want People tend to need/want different things. That's why there are different cpu's on the market
Well we all wanted intel to bring the heat ! But they got it wrong and brought it to laps and not amd , jokes aside does not seam unreasonable for one core boosting up to 5.3 ghz while the rest chill at 2.7 on a 45watt package
I'm sure this "velocity boost" is going to pull a 3950X and only maintain the boost for very brief moments. I still stand by my statement that it's not false advertising, but still pretty shady.
