SolidBladez beat me to it but what the heck ;)

    Core i7 920 Processor Boxed $199.99

However it’s a walk in deal. I think you can add it to your cart and buy it online but you have to go in and pick it up.

Quite right. I recall reading some interviews where Intel reps clearly stated that the Intel Core i7 920 will not be discontinued any time soon (although they didn’t specify when it would be disc continued). The Core i7 920 could become even more attractive if prices fall even further but it does create a bit of a paradox in terms of the performance platform that is LGA1366.

I want clock to clock comparison at 4GHz. With 1, 2, 3 and 4 GPUs.

I imagine i7 is a hair bit faster with one GPU when same clocks, and with more GPUs i7 is clear winner due to additional bandwidth for PCI-E.

Hmm, it does very well in all the tests, only losing to the i7-920 in memory bandwidth. Puts the Phenom IIs to shame, sad to say.

In real world applications, if the Core i5 750 is going to be a lot cheaper than the Core i7 920/870, I don't see why I would want to get the Core i7 if the performance increase is only marginal.

Q9550/Q9650 would be a better one, clocked to 4+ GHz. I personally went the Q9650 route from the Q6600.

well this is good news then. Intel could have easily shot them selves in the foot by making the 1366 redundant or compete with 1156. At least it looks like they can still be a choice for high performance, now and in the future when the i9 comes out.

I suppose they are going to try and cash in with the newer i3/5/7s by selling them at prices affordable to most people - it would be an obvious upgrade choice.
