Problem with MS is they wont ship CPUs, you have to go to their locations to get these deals. It was great when I lived in Houston TX & had access to one within 20 min.

I live 10 minutes away from the Westmont location microcenter, as a matter of fact I use to work in there Warhouse a few years back.It is not a return but a New boxed retail version - Looks like Mc has dropped prices on pretty much every cpu intel and Amd, they must have alot in stock i am assuming? You guys would be pissed If I told you what Micro Center pays for them lol.

Yeah its a Beast! Only thing tough I have to take into consideration is a motherboard as well! I wonder if the core i7 4790k is a good upgrade for me? That one is more manageable at $249.99..... Core i5 4690k is down to $179.99 I gotta pick one up regardless which one it is!

Yeah go for it. You would see a huge performance upgrade over what you currently have.

Even a 4690K is a decent upgrade from your Amd cpu.But i would take a 4790K and grab a solid mobo from wichever brand you prefer i would go Gigabyte on Z97 but thats personal preference and take 16gb of ram or maybe you can re-use your current ram sticks.

I just got my 5930k from the Egg. I paid $450. Dammit

And I got the 6 core because Im thinking (hoping) that some games in the future start taking advantage of all those cores. Even if it doesnt happen, Im coming from an FX 8350...so I can finally do some of the things that Ive wanted to do that the 8350 doesnt do well with.

My problem with Microcenter is that many times on higher end processors you have to pick up in store. For me, that means driving to Yonkers or the Bronx. Not happening. When I ordered it on the Egg for $450 it was $429 on Microcenter but instore pickup only.

Just go full retard with me. I need to take the dive and get a new mobo and RAM too! After that get a couple 980Ti Kingpins. Just break the bank.

I have both if its pure for gaming the 4790k will suffice if you want to decode alot or do more multitasking ;) then 5930k ;)

The main reason is for Gaming, I dont do any video-editing ect.....The usual price on them is $299 they are on sale for $249.99 currently. The most I would run (video cards) would be 2 max, no more then that!

If I were the OP I would go with the 5930k because either way you look at it he is going to be needing a new motherboard. However OP you could go the cheaper route and get a 4790k and reuse your RAM sticks and use the extra money saved towards a new GPU or something. Also the 5930k would be more future proof because of it being a 6 core cpu plus you are getting DDR4 memory and DDR4 memory is becoming more affordable if I am not mistaken.

You have a solid point fender however my budget just took a dive, I am going to have to settle for a Intel i5 4690k looks like no hyper-threading for me lol.( I just bought a Gtx 780 ) but nevertheless I schould still see gains coming from a Fx 6300 right?

I will be loosing 2 threads but gaining alot stronger single-threaded performance right? The reason this is so important to me is I play alot of Flight-sim based games and I am slowly buidling-up my Fsx add-ons, I want it to be as real as possible look-wise and this game is known to favor intel/Nvidia Hardware.

You will be very happy then with that cpu because for fsx you can't have enough cpu power ;) i've bin playing flightsims for a very long time clocked thousands of hours in fsx and fs 2004 it never gets boring ;).Setup your fsx config the right way and you will have an awesome experience.
