The one thing I've noticed you doing incorrectly is creating new threads for game givaways, there is a specific thread just for that.. so in the future if you want to post about a game givaway or a special deal for a game use the "Latest Deals and Offers Thread", which is pined at the top of the Games, Gaming & Game-demos subforum.

Yeah you're having issues right there.
I agree with the same type of looking locations and i didn't like much of the atmospheric music, however the gunplay /abilities in action is right up there with the very cream of the crop.
Not to sound snobbish but it's the kinda game you really need everything cranked up for full experience. (RT makes map more interesting for ex.)
Also the two DLCs are good and the story was also very good.

Or post in the right place so there isn't a thread to be deleted in the first place.

Every 10 minutes or so, the game's graphics crap out and there's noise all over the image. It looks like this. Look at all the garbage pixels on the floor and on the character:

    Control_DX11_2021_06_11_23_50_43_009.jpg

The only way to fix it is to restart the game. Sometimes I have to restart it twice because the first restart has the issue right away. Wtf? Also, look at how blurry the image is. Is this really how it's supposed to be? My eyes get really tired after a while, as I they can't actuallyt focus on objects on the game. And note that this is with nvidia sharpen active! It's even worse without sharpening.

That helped! I turned off global reflections instead of SSR. It seems having both enabled is bugged. Just one of them works. Can't believe they never bothered to fix this. What the hell.

Can't turn on RTX though. I don't have an RTX card. All I can do it turn up contrast to 100% in the nvidia control pane and play with the in-game brightness setting in order to make the game not look like total crap. Did they even play their own game before they decided to ship it like this? It really, really looks like complete crap.

Edit: Maybe this is nvidia's strategy, after all. Make games look like crap, and in order to make them look like they did before RTX existed, you have to spend a couple thousand dollars for an RTX card. Genius! They did the same with Metro Exodus.

In any event, I've seen people call this game "the best shooter of 2019." Well, that says a lot about 2019, doesn't it :p

The one thing I like about Remedy games is the combat. Its the only thing that stands out for me in their games. Fantastic.

Played it a bit more, and the gameplay is what saves this game. The visuals have been kinda ruined by the dull colors and murky fog that is everywhere, and the poor visibility due to lack of contrast and lighting. But the gameplay itself is top-notch, as expected by Remedy. The keyboard+mouse controls are a dream, again, as expected from that studio. Responsive, zero lag, you are always able to do exactly what you want to do without sluggishness getting in the way.

If they hadn't messed up the visuals of the game (it's really, really bad IMO) this would have been a great game instead of just good.

And here I love the visual, brutalistic style of the setting and world. Finding the visual aesthetic beautiful and interesting.
And also find the combat, exploration and general gameplay to be top notch Remedy.

Well, the number 1 issue I have with the game's visuals is this:

    Control_DX11_2021_06_13_04_34_19_994.jpg

I can't see diddly. It's very bright outside, and yet, I can't see anything. This makes no sense whatsoever. And it's actually tiring on my eyes.

And also note that even though you can see absolutely nothing, it's not black. It's gray... Like the game is using the wrong color depth or something. Everything in the game is kinda gray. Washed out. My brain fails to comprehend how anybody could find this appealing :p

Obviously, something's off on your end. According to your screenshot, it seems like gamma level mismatch (BT1883 vs. REC.709) between renderer and adapter/display. Hence, black crush.
It doesn't look like that on my end.

You did say you turned off global reflections.
That could play a part in rooms looking so dark, they do not look that dark and flat for me.

I now turned them back on and disabled SSR instead. It seems it looks better overall that way. Doesn't fix the lighting issue though. I just have to live with it.

Another thing I noticed in this game is how little the render resolution matters. In other games, the difference between 1440p and 1080p is huge. Here, I have to go over the screen with a magnifying glass to make out differences. Even 720p is not a huge difference.

Not sure, personally, 1440p looks much crisper and clearer.
I play at 1080p, with a sharpening filter applied... don't have any complaints.

But, the Northlight Engine was designed around upscaling lower resolutions to save on performance.
Quantum Break allowed people to turn this off and play the game at their native res, but the performance hit was massive.
