It looks good, it really does. The P279UQ also looks fantastic. But i have a feeling Asus are going to **** up hard because their pricing is too greedy. $2000 for the P279UQ and the PG35VQ is a bigger monitor. How much do you think they will charge for that? $2500? Nobody is going to buy those monitors at that price when they can go out and buy a LG UHD TV with HDR and 100/200hz @ 49 inches for the same price or lower. Samsung are also offering up some better priced UHD TV's too. Asus needs to stop taking the piss by pricing 27" monitors the same as 49" 4K QLED TV's.

TV's are cheaper because far more people buy them and it's way easier to manufacture panels with lower pixel density plus they are not required to refresh at 144/165hz.

There aren't even that many high end TVs that exceed 200+ brightness zones.

The QLEDs from Samsung and the OLEDs from LG both have HDR and both look fantastic. The Asus monitors look equally good. But a lot of people are just gonna look at them and say, "why am i paying extra for a small screen?" Are the slight improvements of a faster refresh rate worth that extra grand? A few will say yes, the majority will say no.

The difference is that ASUS might sell 1% of the number of these that Samsung and others sell of those TVs. Who knows how much these cost to make. They could only be making a couple bucks off of them where as the TVs you might not make a ton of profit on each one, but you sell a hell of a lot more.

I hate the prices too but this is a niche market. 99% of the gamers I know have a generic 1080p monitor that cost them $100 or less

The specs tick all the right boxes. Now let us have that as an Acer Predator with built in eye tracking and I'm sold.

Screen prices doubling each time something new comes out, nice. The 1440p G-Sync screens are already twice as expensive as the most interesting screens from a few years ago, now that's about to be doubled or even tripled. Add the 50%+ dollar increase compared to the local currency and it's getting pretty riciculous IMO. Graphics cards able to run these things properly will probably be out years before the screens become even remotely affordable. Seeing as the 1440p screens haven't gone down a cent in a couple of years it'll surely take 10 years before normal people will consider these new ones unless something sudden happens.

I wish these brands Samsung and LG made G-sync monitors, better then asus any time any day.

Samsung only make free syncs monitors for AMD now because Nvidia and Samsung dont like each other anymore after a certain patend.

Here i am scrapping to buy a good 1440p@144Hz monitor and those guys are already announcing super screens that cost more than 2000€!!!... Makes me feel so small...

Stupid question, i want a new monitor and i´m looking specially at the LG 34UC79G-B IPS 34" or the Asus MG279Q IPS 27 144Hz but the problem is that both of them cost around 600€. Are those prices good or acceptable considering their specs??? And which one do you guys think is the best???

Thanks in advance! And sorry for the little derail in the thread...

Because "those TV's" are locked at 60hz on a PC when connected. Every television is that way. No TV is more than 60 actual hz's when considering refresh rates and that is why PC monitors have been critical ever since they stepped out off the 60hz refresh rates...

Still, nobody is gonna pay an extra 1000 bucks just for that one feature when they could just as easily buy the PG348Q that has the same res but 100hz refresh. The extra tidbits those new monitors offer is minimal and definitely not worth the cut-throat prices Asus is asking. 1500 bucks (300 more than its predacessor) sure, why not. But doubling the price... f*** em, the greedy sods

They'll drop in price.... And this tech will become "normalcy" in a couple of years, so don't fret on holding back them wallets people....

Just saying as it sounds like people on here are getting a "bit" overwhelmed with reading the price points. Not that anyone is forced into buying any of it.

i have a 4k tv, 60hz does me, but 4k over 35'' is still too small, i think a 47'' should be a starter when using for general pc use
