I usually do my own and get advise from the guru gang. I'm not really up to par with the new tech out there. This build is for my daughters husband. Hes in the airforce and passed a huge test yesterday. To congratulate him she wants to build him a new pc. The plan is to run 2 monitors, 1 @1080 and 1 @1440.

    Budget is $2200.
Use gaming ,game like COD warzone.
Resolution aiming for is 1440 @high frame rate.

    As always thank you!

a 3080 is not required for 1440p gaming, you've left very little there for monitors in case those are needed too.

Thank you very much! I am surprised at the I5 cpu. The plan is to run 1440.

anyone playing competitive shooters is doing so without vsync, so framerate doesn't procreating matter.

It's all about Frames Per Second hence the reason for G-Sync monitors in order to run Nvidia DLSS and Nvidia Reflex. If the OP had mentioned those games with fairies, goblins, magical dust etc .. then that would be another story as far as choice of gpu.

If you want to fit that Asus gaming monitor I posted earlier in this thread while keeping within the $2200 budget you set then swap out the cpu and cooler in that previous build with these.

You're coming off as ignorant on a gaming build thread of all places. I've been playing FPS games including money tournaments since 2001. There's a reason competitive Warzone players don't use a 4K monitor ... because they want those frames per second. If someone wants to play Warzone and doesn't mind getting crappy frames rates then they can save the money and get themselves a console where they can play on their TV with a set of earbuds and a bowl of popcorn. A 12 gen i7 with 3080 Ti at 2K with all the settings turned on high (Warzone) using using NVidia DLSS and Reflex will net you 160 - 180 frames per second .. Again there's a reason those 2K monitors come with G-Sync.

Just another option as you have such a good budget but comes in just under $2K and do shop around for the best price as PCPartpicker is a reference and you can get things a bit cheaper..
12600K - Stellar CPU will last a long time and can upgrade to Raptor Lake in future
32GB DDR 3600 Any DDR4 3600 RAM CL18 or CL16 will do but white looks good
    Z690 MSI Board
Thermalright Peerless Assassin CPU cooler in white. very well reviewed and great on performance and price!
RTX 3080 12 GB at such a good price! I have the 10GB version and it blitz's through 1440p with ease and will last a long time!
    1TB M.2 SSD
NZXT H7 Flow case which I have just bought and not only looked great but is exceptional on the cooling front. See my PC pic in URL...

That NZXT case goes for $130 yet comes with a single 120mm front intake fan. Now add the three pack of fans in that build and you just ate up $216 out of the budget.

It does come with two fans standard one in the front, one in the back...But fans were just a luxury with a white-ish build and ARGB for the front of the case, nothing more...Areas to cut costs from a cheaper case, Nvme, even RAM. etc...just giving idea's as budget allows and of course shopping around will drop costs further..

Cost effective and will do the job! If gaming only even the 12400 will do a good job.

More top end on budget with a RTX 3080 TI, Z690 MSI Tomahawk Motherboard, Case 4000D and still on budget at a fraction under $2200 budget but to be honest he has so many options and some good ideas..

the cpu is actually plenty powerful, faster than 5800x/5900x in gaming, faster than 11900k, overclocked it's just as fast as 5800x3d overall.
the budget is actually quite tight too if it's supposed to include a high refresh 1440p monitor, case, psu, system and a high end gpu.

@Why_Me I wouldn't take that asus montor, I don't like how it handles fast movement
    https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/asus/tuf-gaming-vg27aql1a

I'd keep the m27q-x with the 5600/6800 system

This MSI monitor is comparable to that Asus I posted earlier.

    https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Optix-G273QPF-Anti-Glare-Adjustment/dp/B093T973KX/
    MSI Optix G273QPF 16:9 Aspect Ratio Anti-Glare Super Narrow Bezel 1ms 2560 x 1440 (QHD) 165Hz Nvidia G-Sync Compatible 27" Rapid IPS Gaming Monitor $319.99

    https://us.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-G273QPF

The case for going with an Nvdia card + G-Sync monitor. Warzone takes advantage of both DLSS and Reflex.
