It's starting to look like Guru3D may need to move back to Intel in graphics card reviews, to better avoid CPU bottlenecks. Unless the 3D cache gives Zen3+ a tremendous boost, while the clocks stay at least the same.

However, obviously nothing is certain before Guru3D has run its own tests on Alder Lake.

Can't wait to see the single core performance, when ddr 5 is "max" tweaked with Asus Apex z690 :D

What?! 257W? That's ludicrous! Ricer probably does it at 125W.
Looks like 12th Core gen is the same piece of excrement as previous generations of intel 14nm hotcakes(TM).

The price of the CPU will be the crucial factor here. Great if it's faster but not if the CPU costs 300€ more than the competition, not to mention the added cost of the mobo. DDR5 is probably something very few will buy as I guess it will cost vastly more than DDR4.

    257w is nothing :)

My 5950x and 3090 is drawing 820w together in Battlefield :D

108 Celsius and 257W of power consumption for the CPU is very high.
Good thing for Intel that winter is coming.

This is exactly why I bought a 5600X and a RX 6800 instead of going full retard. Electricity in my country cost 3 times as much as in the U.S.

Holy crap what is that power consumption?
I hope we can get a power adjusted benchmark soon, like who is more efficient/faster at identical power consumption.

On another note, matching corecount benchmarks may become obsolete with those two different core types in intels new chips...

P.s. I forgot to add a smiley to indicate I was making a joke regarding the retard bit. It is in relations to current pricing and being a super enthusiast. Sorry in advance.

That looks good to me, considering the test conditions.
The guy used improper cooling, so I expect this to run more or less like a 11700k or 5900x since temperature affects power consumption probably around 90C with a decent AIO .

Here is a translated quote from the guy that made the test:

"The AVX2 consumes 250W. However, it can be pressed at about 108 degrees with a single-fan large frost tower without a buckle (directly on the CPU) . For the test, I used Windows 11, DDR4 3600 Gear1.
Also, the 11900K without the buckle is aimed at I went at 115 degrees"

Now that's an aida FPU AVX2 test.
These are the average values for the test and my assumptions, hence I think 12900k is doing great:

    7nm 5800x (8cores) 4.6GHz - 225W
    7nm 5900x (12cores) 4.2GHz - 230W
    14nm 9900k (8cores) 4.7GHz - 220W
    14nm 10700k (8cores) 4.7GHz - 230W
    10nm 12900k (8+8cores) 4.9GHz/3.7GHz - 240W ?
    (proper cooling)

Edit: I don't have a 5950x to test it but I expect around 250W or less depending on all core clocks?

I love how AMD fansboys jump at power consumption, not knowing AMD's power consumption at the top end of the line...

@nizzen can you test your 5950x and report power consumption please?

Why must there always be someone insulting others, calling people fanboys, simply because they have a different opinion.
You do realize that you are on a FORUM. A place for public and open discussion and voicing of ideas.

If you disagree with one idea, you just state the reason for that, and make your case.
You don't go about calling names on other people.

Usually it's one fanboy calling another fanboy a fanboy. Go figure. ^^

He should have made his own. Dude's probably some red bull drinker who has never held an angle grinder in his hands.
