5 times today already that channels swapped for no reason.
really getting tired off this issue with no cause or let alone fix found.

i got this issue asswell with my x-fi prelude from auzentech as with my creative sound blaster platinum.
is there anyone else that had or still have these issues.
tryit everything the only posible fix i got atm is to rip out my sound card.
and use realtek onboard sound card wich sounds like crap.

also had this issue in 3 diferent configurations.
asswell on vista 64 as windows 7 64.

    edit: some searching on google.

    wire related

THis happened to another awhile back, have you contacted Auzentech and asked them about it? -Are you using the latest drivers? I will see if I can figure out the guy thta had the issue awhile ago. He figured out the fix I think.

its not only limited to auzentech its effecting any x-fi chip.

edit: i'm just done shielding most off my audio cables altough i doubt it did anything.
if also checked all my audio cables for damage wich i did't find either.

Yes, i had this problem as well a while back. The problem was present with my current Prelude and it also happened with a CL X-Fi Fatal Pro.

What happened is that channels were swapped randomly (using 5.1 btw) for example FL (Front Left) and FR (Front Right) becomes RL (Rear Left) and RR (Rear Right) and SUB became Center and all other combinations imaginable.

For me, the problem was the AudioBurst FX plug-in for WinAmp. The problems started when i installed that plug-in, but i haven't thought of it for the first time since more people were having the same channel swapping issues.

I've sent a couple of mails to CL and Auzentech, but they never heard about that issue and i even RMA'ed my Prelude. Nothing wrong was found with it until i uninstalled AudioBurstFX.

Problems solved, but the weird thing is that the cause for channel swapping is different for anyone.

For me not using AudioBurstFX helped, don't know about you.

Are you using audio enhancing plug-ins/tools?

@Keitosha, IIRC, you though it was audioburst at first but you tracked it to something else didn't you? -Some driver or other hardware? -that was awhile back.

    YES!!!! Now i remember!!

The problem was also caused by a PCI USB card. I took out that card and the problems went away forever. Removing AudioBurstFX helped, but still had swapping now and then, but removing that PCI USB card solved it.

I swapped it into another PCI slot.

I have the same issue with XtremeGamer under Vista and Windows 7. Using the latest possible available Creative drivers ATM (official, not from the Daniel K's packs, although I've tried them and came up with the same issues, sadly). I also get the swapping with all sorts of audio/video apps, like Winamp, PowerDVD, etc. so it's not a plugin related in any way.

My audio config is as follows: Game Mode + sound related options I have enabled in the CP: CMSS-3D and Crystalizer. My audio enjoying equipment consists of only the good ol' Z-5500's which I love so much, lol.

IT would be great if someone would came up with a solution as this audio swapping thing is really driving me nuts. Thanks in advance :)

I know Ledhed also had the same problem, but the solution is different for every user it seems.

i re sorted shielded my audio cables haven't had issues so far altough it can be gone for month then sudenly happen 5 times in a row in a day.

the best thing can do is try re produce it basicly but thats quite imposible for me.

i known swaping pci slots wont work either most likely.
i tryit that already with other configurations.

Thanks for the suggestion, I had COM PCI adapter installed along side my X-FI so I just removed it, swapped X-FI in that slot and reinstalled the drivers. Hope that it'll have a positive effect on this issue, the time will tell.

Have you tried swapping slots. Keithosha was hjaving this trouble because another device was interfering and I would bet dollars to donuts it was sharing the same IRQ with his X-fi card.
I would suggest trying to get your X-fi on it's own IRQ or atleast on a IRQ that isn't using so much bandwidth like the PCI-E bridge.

These IRQ conflicts are rare but sitll happen now and then. Back a few years ago usually any trouble with a soundcard was related to the IRQ's....

I have had the exact same issue. The problem is, it RANDOMLY happens, like during a game for example, where front audio becomes rear, and rear becomes front, etc.

    X-Fi Fatal1ty PCI, with Logitech X-530 speakers.

Vista 64-bit. It did NOT happen at all with Windows XP Pro SP3/x64 SP2.

However, this was back when I had Vista SP1. Ever since I installed SP2 RTM, I haven't experienced it, I don't think.

just had reply from auzentech they have no clue either.
    edit: channel swaping happend again.

except center moves to front left instead off rear left.

    edit2:

regardless wich pci slot i put it in to results are the same.

either either sharing irq with pci-express or pci ide
    both i cant turn off.
why oh why cant manualy asign irq like used be able to in past........
all these issues aren an excuse to spend tons money trying fix 1 minor issue.......

    edit3:

edit4: i tryit disabling acpi in bios and turned on pcipnp to let windows asign it.
resulting in windows not to even boot.
trying reinstall wont work either at same time giving me loads off errors.
so there aint anyway to manualy asign irq either wich is bs if ask me.

^^ Sorry to hear that you're still having problems..

As for myself, no swapping happened since yesterday when I removed PCI card and swapped X-FI to its place. Fingers crossed now, lol. I'm beginning to think that maybe it indeed was caused by some interferences from near by devices, or some **** like that.
