Over and over I have heard that my graphics card's IRQ should not be shared by any other components.
When I check my IRQ settings, my card is being used on #10... also sharing the same IRQ (#10)is the following:
-ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
-ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
-Conexant PCI Modem Enumerator
-Texas Instruments OHCI IEEE 1394 Host Controller
Should I change this? Should my GTS Pro card be using it's own exclusive IRQ? If so, how can I change my IRQ settings?
Thanx
-learnin' a little more every day

Also, could sharing the IRQ make me run AGP1x? I don't know how to force AGP2x, and I don't have a VIA chipset (so no 4-in-1 drivers for me).

  3. In some cases AGp will be trapped back to 1x if the Videocard is shares. I experienced this myself a while ago.
Yes, it's wise to assign just 1 IRQ to your videocard to asure maximum performance. Basically you need to find out what device exactly is shared. Then shift the IRQ. The most easy way is to place that PCI device in another slot.
Still, it can be tricky sometimes
------------------
Hilbert Hagedoorn - Chief Editor
- "Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else."

My audio card was in the PCI slot directly underneath my AGP slot, so I moved it. There is nothing in the slot beneath my vid card - and now my #10 IRQ is shared by both my GTS card AND my SoundBlaster card...
Why is this??
How can I change my IRQ settings? Should I move the audio card back to the slot underneath my AGP? At least I didn't have both my audio and vid cards sharing the same IRQ.
Is there a way to tell which IRQ's will be assigned to my different PCI slots??

I might be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure it's OK to share your vidcard's IRQ with steering ONLY.
