So, I’ve been reading about the The CERN Large Hadron Collider and all the cool and fearsome things its supposed to reveal and after looking at some cool pictures of it, it strikes me as to how similar it looks to all those sci-fi power generators and cores we see in various FPS video games and films. So how long will it be until we see the Cern Hadron collider its self appearing in a video game or film causing havoc?!
Hhmm... I'd say Half-Life comes pretty close to a LHC disaster scenario. Speaking of which... Ahahahhahah!! Lol!! Those pics are epic! That's a good one, that made me laugh!!
You want to watch Steins;Gate then. It's an anime (and game) about hacking into CERN, time travel, and the LHC. Do note that the story doesn't really take off until around episode 5. Don't let the the humor in the beginning fool you, **** gets real later on.
A marvelous piece of engineering it is. Oh and the anime "Steins;Gate" is really interesting and the concept is quite good.
http://crave.cnet.co.uk/gadgets/man...collider-claims-hes-from-the-future-49305387/ I'm not sure whats more funny, the excuse or that he escaped custody without a trace..lmao Mr Cole was seized by Swiss police after CERN security guards spotted him rooting around in bins. He explained that he was looking for fuel for his 'time machine power unit', a device that resembled a kitchen blender. Police said Mr Cole, who was wearing a bow tie and rather too much tweed for his age, would not reveal his country of origin. "Countries do not exist where I am from. The discovery of the Higgs boson led to limitless power, the elimination of poverty and Kit-Kats for everyone. It is a communist chocolate hellhole and I'm here to stop it ever happening." Mr Cole was taken to a secure mental health facility in Geneva but later disappeared from his cell. Police are baffled, but not that bothered.
Speaking of games... Another World... So that's around 1991. Wasn't the LHC back then, but it's predecessor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zgkf6wooDmw&feature=related
ha nice thread... Since im totaly into this stuff and have some pics from CERN when me and a Friend where there for a visit, i thought im gonna share em Here we go... I have so much Documentarys about all this stuff and science, especially quantum mechanics...Its so interesting!! anyway, i also would like to know if there games or any other documentarys and movies out there i dont know about... Greetz BetA
I think Microsoft claims Windows is more complicated than the space shuttle. I don't remember where I read it.
He is Mr. Cole? In the movie Twelve Monkeys the person sent back in time to gather information had the name James Cole, played by Bruce Willis. In the movie he was also sent to a mental institution.
I remember a movie I believe it was Angels & Demons where religion vs scientists and the Illuminati vs Church
Interestingly enough the high-tech cables & electronic devices (PCBs) used in the hadron collider, built to last the extreme conditions inside the particle accelerator, as well as safety devices used by the technicians at Cern, were constructed in Alexandroupoli in Thrace northern Greece by a Greek company called "Prisma Electronics" And were honored by CERN, Geneva with the Golden Award for Industry. http://www.prismaelectronics.eu/sit...d=207:-a-&catid=37:topmenu&Itemid=639&lang=en http://www.prismaelectronics.eu/sit...09-28-16&catid=41:leftmenu&Itemid=159&lang=en http://www.prismaelectronics.eu/sit...tid=34:2010-02-22-14-24-06&Itemid=349&lang=en
