CDPR got hacked. I hope this causes a backlash on the hackers knowing how much support they have out there.

Well, this is the most news we've heard about the game.
Didn't figure it would be at E3.

And, this is some really childish crap. Hackers trying to get a ransom or they will leak files... seriously, grow up.

They should coin a new term, filenapping. lmao. I only want confirmation that GOG accounts are safe. But yeah, CDPR was a bad target. They've enormous amount of goodwill.

I don't think it matters how much goodwill a blackmail target has.

I'm assuming they were after, or thought they had found something damaging, but CDPR don't sound particularly bothered so guess not.

Another shameless blackhat ruining it for the rest of us.

  7. These ransom assaults are beginning to be quite common in movie industry. I've never heard about game studio being attacked though.

Anyway, I don't mind having some more info about Cyberpunk 2077, it has been way too quiet for a way too long :)

Last I heard was that the devs got some funding by the government to research new ways of online multiplayer? I think? my memory is a bit fuzzy..

Image if ISIS took responsibility for this attack.

All the best to the devs though. Ill wait for the leaks, take them as is and then wait happily for the official release like i did with HL2, Doom 3 and Human Revolution

For some reason stuff from 2014-15 became news in 2017 and now the studio leadership caught wind of it, and they need to PR their way to a "fix".

Youtubers talking about it is the reason.

I have total faith in CD Projekt. They can take all the time they want if it ensures a quality game at launch. Personally I don't care if it has any kind of online interaction, I just want a good story driven RPG.

I'm sure someone at CDP would reply that GOG sales are already micro-transactions...

"Seamless online multiplayer", with "hub zones around the game world where you can meet other players" sounds like an always online game to me. Something like The Division.

I wouldn't be too hard on them, the more successful you become the higher the expectation level becomes.

Consumers want something bigger and better, your staff all get pay rises for the success of the previous game, you hire more staff, move to a bigger office, upgrade your hardware and all of a sudden the numbers you need for your next game have multiplied many times.

When a developer is new they are playing with pennies, the risks are huge for them now. CDPR can't bring out a indie budgeted Cyperbunk 2077 as it will be slaughtered, so this is the reality.

I wonder if people would help crowd fund a SP only story driven game, i think i might but im not sure how many people would with such a well established developer.

Actually consumers and poor/middle class people are the most greedy of all. What kind of people are wanting $15/h raise at McDonalds?...low wage people. What kind of people want McD's to keep their food cheap?...consumers. What kind of people always try to stay on welfare because the benefits are worth more than a low wage job?...poor people. What kind of people complain about the price of their favorite hobby that they get hundreds of hours of entertainment out of?.....all of the above. Why?...because it's all about the income to expense ratio where the aforementioned must be maintained as high as possible over the latter.
The reality is that humans in general and by nature are a bunch of greedy f***'s. Being a greedy a-hole has nothing to do with your introduction to lots of money so there's no need to be a hypocrite.

Now from a business perspective, capitalism is very simple. You either grow, sell, shrink or file bankruptcy..that's it. Publisher's take huge risks and 1 failed game can be enough to force your business to shrink or re-evaluate your model. CDPR might be doing terrific right now, but a huge investment does not guarantee your company will grow. EA is at a completely different level because they deal with a ton of investments and the last thing you want to do is sit in the spotlight of a shareholders meeting if your not making projected quota. They are no more "evil" than any consumer out there that wants to save as much money as possible on expenses and earn as much money as possible on income.
