If i remember correctly i have read that not everything is covered by ray traced reflections, so if SSR is turned off some places will be missing reflections and look out of place ... this is the same workaround used in Control :) But keep SSR at minimum for best performance. I am sure this will be covered by Digital Foundry at some point next week :)

PS. i could be wrong about this so let´s see what Digital Foundry says

You can enable player model to be reflected in RT Reflections but it's the first person mesh and so uh...

People using PS4s complaining about this? GTA5 has been doing that since release and is STILL doing that even now, several years and billions of dollars later!

That's really lazy of the devs. I mean you can see yourself driving the car so it should be possible to see yourself in a reflection.
So switching on a mirror actually loades your full body into the game i guess. Very weird.

That's by design, in car you can change camera to third person so you'd be able to see player model either way, so RT being here changes nothing as player is always technically in 3rd person and is drawn at all times.
In other scenarios, everything was designed long before RT was a thing so by the time it arrived, entire first person pipeline was already done and couldn't be easily adjusted to adapt for the fact you could see yourself in reflections with RT at any time, so they just decided to not draw player at all.

Not to mention, 3rd person mesh lacks a lot of first person animations, try sliding and entering photomode - there's no animation for that. Having to account for RT reflections in last quarter of development was probably unviable, especially given state of the game on launch.

    Still for laughs:

In Control, if you enable RT reflections, SSR is greyed out. And the description says "This feature is disabled for RTX". So, it's either all-in RT reflection or SSR in Control.

In Cyberpunk 2077, even though RT Reflection is enabled, SSR can still be set in the option menu (misleading). However, from what I've seen, it does nothing if RT reflection is enabled. I could tell this by no visible changes and no framerate changes.

SSR rapes my old GTX 1070, one of the biggest performance hogs, also between off and psycho settings, it introduces that ugly grain noise.
Gonna need that RTX 3070Ti to come out to enjoy this more

So, does the game run better on higher resolutions with the recent patch?

I caved in and played some more of this game. I love the gameplay and the atmosphere, the music, the environment, etc.

BUT HOLY DAMN IS THIS BROKEN!????

Playing more just really shows how much a mess this game is, and I'm not talking in the performance side of things. I played the game just doing random side missions and exploring the city for about 4 hours straight.

    Here is what I experienced:

Mission is to go to an apartment and help a guy escape as hes wanted. I walk him out and enemies arrive, mission tells me to get to his car. So I run around and find his car, now the enemies have spotted us and they are shooting at us. The guy I'm trying to save starts running off and hiding. So I kill all the enemies in the area. He then disappears.............................. or does he? I get a call.... mission failed..... Ok great.

Next mission is to escort a man in distress from a botched penis implant...... ok this is funny stuff here. We get into a car and I drive him to the nearest doctor. During our drive I hit another car whereby we fall through the entire map and begin falling into the never end abyss. The game hits a loading screen over and over about 3 times in a row and now my car is back in the world on the road but its so damaged it won't move. So I get out the car and find another, only for the dude with the botched penis to just sit in the other car and not move AT ALL. I left the game on whilst I did some things around the house and came back 20 minutes later and he is still sitting there. Great, moving onto another mission.

I do a mission where I have to investigate a crime scene, I look around and find a miniboss dude who I need to beat to get a shard off him. I beat him and collect the shard. I now have to send the information back to Regina......................................... I call her and she starts talking about another mission entirely with no option to send the info and no on screen prompt......

During this mission......... out of nowhere the wanted dude who I was meant to escort from the first mission I described just randomly appears out of nowhere and starts to follow me around..........?????????????? WTF? Ok, I get into a car and his scripted dialogue from the failed mission begins to play. I can't take him anywhere as I don't have the mission available to me anymore as I apparently failed it. So I now have this dude following me around ALL THE TIME. He even appears in my apartment!

This is just a few of things I saw, the major ones that is. In my 4 hour play time I have seen enemies appear and disappear, NPC's T posing, NPC's ice skating with no animations, graphical bugs like shadows breaking and flickering, controls not responding requiring me to press a key multiple times for actions to work, item pickups becoming unattainable. The list goes on.

Fact is if you play this game now, whilst it has real potential to be amazing its just far far too broken. You ARE going to have a rough time and not just in the performance side of things. I have a feeling in the next month or so (probably in January) we are going to see a huge patch. This really did need more time in the oven, playing the first Act most of it is pretty scripted so I didn't quite realise just how broken things were.

  13. It definitely runs on W10 1803. So if you have the latest LTSC, which is 1809 I believe, you should be OK.

You need to go to messages, select her and reply with an SMS.

But yeah, ive encountered also more and more bugs, a few more ones i mentioned earlier already.

Recent one, was doing a braindance for main mission and after the 1st one was done, i ended up on an open street with haft the textures and low texture peeps and vehicles driving, like on a mortorway, there wasnt really enough to see there, lol. The minimap still showed the room and building where i was in. Had to reload a prev. save, again..sigh...and had to do the brain dance, again..

Footsteps sounds are also gone when you jump while sprinting and just keep moving. Stopping and sprinting again gives you back the footstep sounds..

I got time to play today, game is patched up to 1.04, no crashes after 2 hours of play.

Running on a 3770K at 4,4GHz and a 5700xt (2050 core and 1850 mem) I'm getting low 40s to over 100 FPS at 1440p all settings at highest except for the stuff listed under 'Basic', lens flare, motion blur, DOF and that garbage.

The game is alright for just 2 hours in, when I get to about 15 hours is when I can give most RPGs my honest rating, so we'll see.

Anyone able test performance of pcie 3 vs 4?

It`s using a lot more bandwidth than most games so far 5-10% vs the more normal 2-3%.
Obviously that`s still nowhere near the cap - but`s there`s a small but significant benefit to pcie 4.0 in some games.

Might be worth checking (I`ve got a pcie 3.0 riser in my mini-itx so can`t check it myself)

Indeed, running RT refections disabling SSR gives zero performance uplift.
