Hey guru's, what do you guys use for a good cd/dvd writing program? I had to reformat my C: drive and lost what I was using. It wasn't that great anyway, and couldn't burn mpeg's or avi's to dvd! im wondering what are some good (preferably freeware) options in this arena...

Actually Nero Burning ROM used to be amoung the best if not THE best. I'm talking about versions 5 through 7, after that it kept on going straight downhill only.

yeah, I used to use Nero but a while back and really liked it. I tried one of their newer versions and hated it. I reinstalled the old version and then had to do a format reinstall, and no longer have the discs. I liked it for cd burning, but it wasn't very good for DVD

Depending on what I'm burning, I use ImgBurn, Windows Image burner, or Alcohol 120%. I also use folder2iso when I want to make files on my HDD into an .iso image.

    Img burn for burning disks
Convertx2dvd for video conversion and burning to disk so it weill play in any dvd player

^ It's been ages since I've actually burnt a DVD Video but I've always found Sonic Scenarist to be the most flexible authoring software and Cinema Craft Encoder to offer the best of the best MPEG2 encoding quality.

More than 90% of what I know about DVD / Blu Ray video is what I've been learning from www.doom9.org for more than 10 years already and it's still the most complete online resource for that even today IMHO.

I disagree . CDburnerXP is just for a different type of user, one that may not want to touch ever setting for ever burning operation. ConverXtoDVD is not free as well.
