No noticeble increase in Crysis or Far Cry 2 here. Very small increase in 3DMark06. Then again, I'm DirectX 9 and Windows XP. :bang:

It seems Far Cry 2 really gets a small speed boost thanks to some weird optimization from ATi cards DirectX 10.1 feature. :3eyes:

I actually think it has a great deal more to do with the AMD CPUs those guys are using. This driver seems to get rid of a massive amount of CPU overhead off of those CPUs.

    I had the same problem,
completely uninstall and reinstall the 9.8 drivers to fix it.

no improvements in opngl; I see powerplay issues, and il2 CTD's after 20min of play; lock-on stops responding and ctd's. So I rolled back to 9.7
I don't know maybe its the older GPU's of HD 3870s can't handel the d r i v ers? ( do this and you wont get those annoyoing web links...)

Tested this with Stalker Clear Sky. Finish the swamp level with maximum preset and 2x AA and i didn't stutter as before and also more fps in the Clear Sky Base.

where did you get the Obama avatar? Is it made by someone, and taken and used, or was it made as an Avatar and given out? I know it was on Posters in towns and cities.. (guess I can't get political here.. but it fits him well). So, is everyone free to use it?

No, Far Cry 2 in DX10 is still a stuttering, unplayable mess.

When I only had the X2 card; I finished FC2 2 times; all maxed out; with no problems

that was with cat 8.12 HOTFIX and cat 9.1

I am replaying it right now, with 9.7 with no issues also.

Would you mind taking a short clip with fraps? Because I think it might just that some people don't notice it.

Anybody having stuttering problems in Far Cry 2 open the console and type gfx_maxfps 40, you can try different numbers but with 40 I get no more stuttering.

does fraps needs to be registered to take films ???

In any case; will do if you want.(I'm at the office, must be tonight)

    I play tons of games, plus I am very ticky with micro-stuttering, stuttering, etc - I did not have any issues with FC2 at all; "I did my time on the joint" when I first got to multi gpu config; suffered all over the way. I am pretty confident no stuttering probs on my X2 card, on my rig with FC2 ;

With my actual config ( 3 x 4870 gpus) I get constant 60 fps already (i only play with vsync on); so I didn't jump "right away" on the cats 9.8 ; that they claim such a big improvement on FC2.

There is one big issue on FC2 and ATI, with the fire. At close range, the frame drops are very steep; I hope they fixed that (compare a benchmark chart from nvidia card to ati card, you'll se what's chainsaw teeth are on fire areas, compared to nvidia's chart).

Oh you play with vsync. It's also much smoother for me with vsync, but there's some bad mouse lag.

Why the **** is this driver 10 degrees hotter when idle?? It isn't a powerplay issue--I checked with gpu-z. But 65 degrees at idle? Seriously? Why? I'm going back to the previous version. This is ridiculous.
