Thought someone would have jumped on my previous post I made a couple of hours ago, but since it has no hits here's a new thread :)

I found the Catalyst 8.862 RC's. It covers all desktop and Llano APU models. Some of the files have the same internal version as 8.861 but the files are definitely more up to date (larger, different code).

    http://file2.mydrivers.com/display/AMD_8.862_RC1_Win7_Vista_June8_BR120249.exe

It does NOT resolve the BSOD issue some of us have been having, so I should point out since I have been having that issue I haven't tested this driver in terms of performance etc!

These are are a little early, maybe, to be 11.7 RC's, so its more likely it is a RC for Catalyst 11.6b (or something along those lines) to add support for the APU's.

Also, OpenCL 2.5 is coming in August apparently, so probably with the 11.8's.

I plan to do a reinstall in a couple of hours, I will try this new driver very first thing after Windows setup finishes and see what happens :), and report on it either way.

    Have fun :)

Atm in my location my internet is slow as a turd sandwich. If it is indeed a hotfix to be, then my card (5870m) would be supported. So can anyone take a quick look in the inf file and copy & paste it here.

    Thanks

By version number yes, but I guarantee you that depsite the same file version numbers, the actual files themselves are newer too. Not only by their date, but they have different sizes, and different code compares.

    They just haven't been reversioned.

    OpenGL 6.14.10.10767 (11.6) --> 6.14.10.10834 (8.862)
Even files with same versions are different sizes or compare differently. Definitely not the same!

Sorry my mistake! I was comparing 8.862's to 11.5b's not 11.6.

However, when I compared atikmdag.sys I did compare the 1162 builds from 8.861 and 8.862. Different!

Can't say about the other files though, but I'm certain they've been updated (or at least compiled differently)

    Nice find.
Well it is a updated version of 11.6 but not an early build of 11.7.
Revision numbers are the same, dll files are different from 11.6 whql but, with almost no size change, and little code changes.
Probably they added something for the llano gpu (sumo) and that's it.

Do not install the cap provided with this driver set they are older, stick with 11.6 cap1.

could you make a mobility mod for this?

There are a bunch of us on the new ATI dynamic switchable graphics scheme (ATI's version of optimus), and it doesn't switch to the ATI card from Intel for OpenGL.

However, the screenshots from some of the CCC from computers with AMD APUs, have an option in CCC called "Switchable Graphics Method", where you can choose the dynamic scheme or the manual scheme. I really want to see if this new driver can enable that page in the CCC and allow us to use the ATI card for things like photoshop, FSX, minecraft, second life, etc.

It seems better. but i didn't see any improvement of performance in Dirt 3 & the Witcher 2 maybe 1-2 fps. the good thing is that without the Profile CAP there's no light issues in Witcher 2. NO BSOD here.
